superhus! 4 Posted August 30, 2014 G'Day, going to tackle the fuel pump in the wagon tomorrow, and have a few q's. Does the fuel take need to be drained? If so how do I go about doing this? Seeing that I'm converting to V8 I have a few e-series pumps here. Is it going to affect the fuel system if I was to add a higher volume pump for the time being? Ta. Mr Polson 10,214 Posted August 30, 2014 Are you replacing the low pressure (in tank) pump, or the high pressure (in line) pump? If you're replacing the low pressure one, yes the tank will need to be empty. Otherwise it'll very quickly end up empty when you remove the pump. I've emptied XF tanks before by removing the sender (in top of the tank) and siphoning it out.
