RuffXf 5 Posted October 22, 2023 G'day all, I'm back onto the slow engine build. Now on the to do list is valve clearance. I'm trying to reach the .150 inches recommended in my factory XD book with shims. I do not wish to change rods as the ones I have are heavy duty for tougher springs. What would the experts here say is the maximum amount i can safely shim the rockers by?
Slow250XC 1,513 Posted October 22, 2023 Set of stepped rocker studs, nuts and guides, and some scorpion 1.7 rockers from rockauto was the route i went. My thread had links at the time. Cheaper option may be out there now though. Sent from my SM-A217F using Tapatalk
RuffXf 5 Posted November 4, 2023 Ive already got all the peices. A while ago I'd bought some YT nonadjustable rockers. Buying adjustable ones probably would've been an easier though slightly dearer option. Just need to know how far I can safely shim the pedestals instead of buying shorter rods. I also already have the shims. It's looking like needing at least 60thou
bear351c 10,270 Posted November 5, 2023 From memory, the shims I used in the Clevo were 0.20" and 0.35"..? Same rockers.
