Used my mechanics kit he lent me. Has the drill bits and taps and dies. Id really like to find a fix cause I dont want to stuff it more. A threaded sleve would be sweet ir self tapping bolt

Where do you get said recoils? The thread was stripped when I picked upbthis replacement engine. The pump seal between metal plate and pump housing in the end. I thought I just stuffed the gasket goo that's why ive taken it in and out soooooo much. Bought a new pump now anyway. Im not great at tapibg threads but I can get them to grab. Also I havent torqued the bolts like a wheel nut, the thread was striped already so I had to tap it. This time I was finger tightening it with socket end and could feel wasnt gripping. Wasnt cross thread either. I don't take offence to any of the comments made- if I did I wouldnt ask for help. I admit im no expert but this onecwas fucked when I got it. I dont think the alt bracket on that bokt helps either after 40 years

Im getting pissed off as ive had to seal my water pump since installing new motor 3 times. The top drivers side bolt leaks slightly. Every time. Its the only pump I've dealt with that has a plate separating the water pump casting from the block. I dont have a gasket kit so been trying with goo. Ive only just realised I havent gooed between the plate and the cast pump. Only on the plate and surface to the block. Is this usual to have to have 2 seals on these things. Having ac doesnt make it a quick job. Have to remove alt and all the brackets and loosen and move ac compressor. Grrrr Tips anyone

Its not leaking out relief hole. Am getting another pump. Sealant I used was rtv red. Shop said use rtv blue so I got that.

Yep. Left it 36 hours last time..... grrr Let me know if you found seals with that pump

Ok so water pump was not leaking out the pressure relief hole but I can see the shaft through the hole. Are they usually plugged with wax or something? Is the cavity sealed from the water gallery where the impeller is

Oh id love the old mechanics trick to getting them out in a car with ac. Is it ac water pump or smaller non ac one

Well sealed leak at top bolt. Now sprung one on lower face.... it all has to come out AGAIN!!!!!!!!!! F@RK

I agree ando the pump worked fine in old engine. Its just sealing it up from this weep. Rest of stuff going great. Hope to have new tank in the car next coupe nights.

Was the pump from my old motor as the pump in the newer one was leaking from the pressure release hole in the pump. So I dindnt have gaskets only goo. Will try it later tonight its only from that one spot its got the slight weep leak.

Might just renove bolt and put plumbers tape first. Not as dodgey as stuff ive done before. Mag wheel nuts clamped in the hose are great to block heater hoses and way better then plastic bungs.

Scraped off all the old gasket from block. Didnt use thread sealer on thread. Do you mean plumbers tape? Theres no paper gasket between plate and pump housing. Looks like its all coming out again

Check your shoes most likely non adjusted or worn shoes the issue. Or stretched cable

Is there a write up of these converions. Might start collecting parts if I see them cheap.

My deburer is a round polishing stone on a die grinder. I dont have a double flare so only usually single flare it or a couple of spot welds if its steel to stop clamp flying off. Double clamps work well too. Well sourced a triumph trans cooler and lines. Can chop hoses and use brass or steel compressor fittings and hose clamps possibly to join them. Will find out when I pick up over weekend

Looking at fitting an external auto trans cooler for my bw35 3 speed. I dont like the auto fluid through the radiator core so wondering how big a cooler needed? Also with hose and clamps be enough to hold the hoses onto cooler if I find a decent 2nd hand unit that doesnt have correct threaded fittings. Thought of a small magna v6 cooler or about a4 paper size

For cruiser and hwy I agree no hi flow pump needed. Also dont go too wild on cam with lpg. They are sensitive to draw signal needed to meter in fuel from my experience (not in falcons) Same with pod filtets. They prefer enclosed filters. For some reason they perform a bit better with a little intake restriction not cold air ram tube induction. My experiences anyway

Was it auto and now manual? Might be related Apart from that if this is in your test car is the fuel pick up ok? Not blocked etc. Apart from those things id pick electrical or sensor related

I do to for some lines. Learnt that from my radiator hoses in my datsuns over the years. Cool might go pick a part and grab one from any car I feel like. Might come with hose already. Im tight and strange like that.

Ok. I forgot 1970s is my kind of skill level he he he. I just want to bypass the radiator system completely. Dont want to be like a ba falcon stuck on the side of road with coolant in the trans and trans oil in the radiator.
