Just give it a tug
-
That's what she said

You're welcome mate. Hopefully it fits they way it should, I made it so it can easily be tweaked for individual bars. Just need to drill a couple holes in the tabs to suit your bar and screw through the plastic to keep in place.
-
Second one is ready to rock Price is $60 plus $10 if you need postage.
-
First one is spoken for, anyone else want one? Oh and I forgot to say that ya know it's made of steel....steel can be polished....just sayin
-
With local and imported ingredients
-
Only takes a couple of layers of paint to obscure a chassis or tower number so it makes sense to clear over bare steel. No arguments later on.
-
Here we go, first one done and in primer.
-
Can you take a measurement of the opening in your bar? Want to verify that it's the same as this one, my patch panel is 157mm side to side at about centreline which allows 1mm either side for clearance. Opening should be about 159-160mm.

Viola! Just ignore the missing corner, this is the first prototype and was made from a bit of scrap so I could work out what was going on.

I've taken off hundreds of different types and they're all a little different. Most of the time I've used a plastic scraper or applicator that's had the edge sharpened up to cut through the old tape and push/pull the mouldings as you go. If you can see that the mouldings held on with thick tape, just carefully slice through it with a box cutter or similar thin flexible knife. Clean up with prepsol or wax n grease remover, metho or other gentle solvent. Re tape with quality 3m automotive tape.

Is this the hole you want filled?

This spot will do for this... Can someone help me out with good pics of the bottom of the a pillar and torque box area? There's too much missing on Gerry's and honestly haven't got time to Wade through searching for good information. Particularly the underneath structures and floor braces attached to lower firewall / inner wheel well. Cheers edit: pasting this link here so i can find it on my phone later. I'd forgotten about this shop's site, top work and better yet... they know how to take photos! http://www.farracecustomsandclassic.com.au/products-page/completed-projects/ford-xb-coupe-3/

I had a quick look here http://www.scottsoldautorubber.com.au/ford.htm Didn't see a listing for what you wanted but that doesn't mean he won't know what to use. I've picked up some rover and fargo bits from him and I know he has just about everything made on the market. Send him an email and see if he can help.

Can do mate
-
Yeah you could be in luck with that part, I've been contemplating making a full panel to fit Gerry's. wondered if anyone would get it
-
If I change my name to rich, do I get the money that goes with it? Logically, I'd say yes because that would also explain why I seem to get shafted a lot. (think about.... Aaaand there it is)
-
That's A pillar yeah? There's slight difference to the xb coupe one. Which part of it do you want, the flat vertical with the lines or the cut off top cap in second pic?
-
The one she ordered is a Bluetooth unit. Will eventually find out if it works or not, think she said it answers calls automatically. Not sure if I like the sound of that bit.
-
Waiting for one to turn up from chingbay, will let you know if it was worth 8 bucks

I haven't called him in yet, I've got my hands full at the moment... I'll keep you in suspenders on what until the weekend

Converting to windowless without welding...
2redrovers replied to Defective's topic in Body and Exterior
If you have the means to put the flange on the edge this would be great. Will give a flatter result at the end. Be aware there is quite a bit of shaping in that area, not just a flat bit of steel. Check the pics in my shop thread of when I made the filler for the green van. I tried to show how much curve is in them. -

Oh and yes it is expensive. But it's quicker and relatively painless. I think if you're careful about it, you should be able to do a four window van with one tube. Glue would be easier to apply to the new panel while it's laying flat on a stand etc then put it in place and clamp. Wear latex type gloves and thoroughly clean the areas on all panels with wax n grease remover.
