Wow cool. Maybe direct them here and get a bit of cross promotion for the forum too[emoji16] At the moment I'd only aimed to sell the pair I've got made. Hadn't thought about people wanting more...maybe I made them too cheap lol.
-
Did you just get him to rip it out for now or fitted and resealed as well?
-
No worries mate, they are good fellas and will do the job right for you.

Thanks Dave[emoji106]

Selling a pair of repair sections for xp sedan These are the standard shaped ones I made first for the white xp. Think xm is the same shape. $150 ea plus postage. If you know anyone who may be interested, please spread the word. If you're on Facebook and know where to post it, I'd be very grateful if you wouldn't mind doing the honours on my behalf. Cheers [emoji481]

I'll get you the number for the guy Matt uses tomorrow, see if you get any better from him.
-
Yeah think of all the fun he misses out on [emoji14]
-
Oh well..was going to happen sooner or later I guess.
-
Cool..just don't be tempted to use an actual heat gun as they are too intense and will burn or hurt something easily. Being near the glass you want a more gentle, gradual heat.
-
Have you got a small bar or fan heater? Could use it to warm up a side at a time which would help soften the rubber. A couple of plastic wedges to hold the rubber up a bit while you clean the gap between them, then move along to the next bit. A hair dryer could work too.
-
As a first try, I'd take the locking strip out, then thoroughly clean under the rubber seal as much as possible. Once that's done, squeeze a continuous bead of windscreen sealant all the way around the window with particular emphasis around the visible leak. Then jam the locking strip back in before the goop sets off too much. Excess can be cleaned up after the strip is in. As noted, it's the slightly dodgy way to go but if it works you're all good and no harm done.

See, ford thought about that and made it feel better by wiring the boot light to be on any time it's dark[emoji28]......although you undid that so now you're stuck with cranky boot water...and noone wants that[emoji39]
-
I'd be inclined to run the sealant all the way round. Even though you have identified the leak, the actual path of the water may come from further up the frame and be working it's way down. You could drop by a windscreen joint and ask for a suitable tube of gunk, would probably be any non hardening mastic.
-
You're right Dean, the rope or extension cord idea works. It's easier with newer glass I think, probably more the type of seal and fitment rather than the glass itself. The old toughened glass is supposed to be stronger but I'd hate to have to replace a rear screen on anything pre-90s (find new glass that Is)
-
Personally, only take out glass like that if it's already broken or the seals are being replaced and I can cut it out. If you have spare glass or its dirt cheap to replace, give it a shot. I assume it tells you the rope method of removal. An alternative is a number of plastic wedges or applicators to tease the rubber back as you go round with some gentle pressure on the glass. Usually I'll get someone in, or recommend it as then it's on them if it breaks...and rear screens can be pricey

Xb coupe ute...not quite sure if that would work the way you're thinking but I'll have a look. Is that something people would want though?
-
Hmmmmmmmm.... Wouldn't that make it a sedan? Take the bootlid off and job done[emoji41][emoji106] That version is actually a ute to start with, adding probably a shortened sedan roof and modified rear door/seats etc. Hidden door handle because it opens suicide style like an extra cab would.
-
I got a laugh out of the responses to that last one[emoji28] I never intended to build it....unless someone asks me to and hands me a blank cheque to go with the request[emoji41] So...how's about this one then...
-
Three slight variations of the idea, difference is in the rear pillar and tub mostly. I have no idea how close in dimensions the rx8 cab would be to the Ford but anything is possible in cyberspace.
-
Yeah I get that, has a Tacoma / avalanche / Everest vibe goin on. The scale is probably way out with what I'm Frankenstein-ing now, but you'd laugh if you saw how close the proportions and angles are between an ef and rx8[emoji28]
-
Possibly.. I thought about trying the rear door from a ranger or something with the smaller back door. I'll look at what the rx8 style would do but I'm trying to avoid any custom glass if possible.
-
Yeah I was onto that with this tweak. Had to refresh the system to get it done... Stoopy 'puter[emoji14]
-
A Territory dual cab I'm seeing if I can make it look a bit more ute-ish and less sedan
-
Figured I'd chuck these here so they don't get lost in the off topic. Starting point First version Shortened to same wheelbase as a '16 ranger With ranger ghost for comparison The way I did the rear pillar /window is more like a sedan but actually neither ute or sedan exactly. The rear door is a blend of rear and front door sections. Tub is shorter too. I think I liked the more upright pillar but this uses standard glass everywhere.
