That sounds more realistic to me.. and achievable. I'd still run it on gas but something similar would be nice I think.

Don't really matter if I want it or not when I got no money

Yeah sounds like the one Dean linked me, it's actually same area as me. Got zero dollars though. I considered the trade option but I'd like to know if it's legal in a mk1 and what the engineers costs /requirements would be https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/508639419671770/

Saw that... 5L Windsor burnout car not engineered/rego $10k

Always wanted to try that kinda thing so definitely worth it on this one.

Yeah that too. It's not much of a difference but it would be a definite step in the flow path. I'd already figured I'd take the die grinder to it when the time comes. [emoji6]

Me too, cheaper pump price is the icing on the cake

Yeah saw that the other night. Looks great except I wouldn't do the bubble flares or orange, otherwise very nice unit. The Suzuki throttles is a neat idea too and I'd look at that if I was doing fuel injection.

This'll work if the original motor is usable. I had a carbie I kept from the Fargo stash of spares. It's an original that's been modified for LPG to work I guess like a mixer. The bolts line up and the base is the same size apart from the internal bore being slightly larger than the escort manifold inlet. Would just need a bit of rearrangement of the linkage and feeds to clear things.

I've got one from the rover that's similar to that spare one you got. I don't know what size area the original fuel tank is yet, don't really want to use up cargo space if I can help it.

That's pretty much the plan. I'll get the details on the kit at a later date but I knew about that sort of thing from wanting one for the rover. It's a definite to make it's way in there. Gas tank plan will probably find something that fits the space where the old fuel tank will come out of. Will work that out when I get that far along.

Thanks Gerg[emoji106] that kinda info is greatly appreciated. I've been a fan of LPG for a long time so it's not scary to me (don't understand everything but I get the fundamentals). That's why I want to go straight gas not dual fuel. It's cleaner than a hippy mobile too[emoji28]

Yeah she'll be a fun build. There is some big fabrication needed in areas and I might try to throw in a little custom work as well for good measure. I'm pretty sure I'll be keeping the rear windows, might tint them a bit but I like being able to see all the wankers on the road around me before they drive through me. How's this for a giggle.. I drew this sketch a number of years ago. OK it's a mini not an esky, but I may have a type...

I know every car and project is going to be different but if no one says even ballpark numbers how do you work out what you need to budget for the pencil pushers?

While it looks alright, I read through that list of Q/A and all I saw was dollar signs getting larger and more numerous. What auto would bolt up to that in Rwd? Custom sump practically killed it though.

I'll say this once for everyone AUTOMATIC GEARBOX will be in ALL my cars. I'll clear this up as well.. I restore cars for customers, I don't actually care about future resale, originality or any of the history unless it pertains to someone trying to hide dodgy work that might kill me. I'll build my cars for me, to suit me and what I do with them. Having said that, I do everything as if it could be factory work or can be easily undone if the next owner wishes. That statement about engines and LPG is honestly a bit dopey.. What do you think 99% of ford sixes run on without faults? Generally speaking if it was made for unleaded, it won't have a problem running gas. (until the injection system dries out and pisses fuel everywhere when you try to use it after 3years of nothing) Your memory is a bit fuzzy.. Rovers are rated at 150 although they wouldn't actually achieve it mostly. My personal gripe with the engineering process is that NOBODY will give you an answer as to what the guy will charge to tick the damn boxes on the paperwork. What will it actually cost to get a v8 escort passed??? Nobody knows and if they do, they won't tell you.

I'm usually the first across the lights in an au wag on gas in economy mode without effort.. What's the point? My cars are work vehicles mostly, need to get the job done when I put the foot down. If they have a bit of heart and soul that works too.

If they use the same gearbox then that could be an easy upgrade if I stick with the 1.3 to start. Guys, my motto could probably be "I chase rust, not horsepower"... Maybe I should get that on a shirt?

Simple is good right now. The 1300 is there already but unknown if it's usable. I have been casually looking around to see if any pintos are advertised but apart from one in a basket case that was missing parts, I haven't seen any yet. It's really all academic at this stage. Gotta make some of the rust disappear before a motor matters. I think at this point in the discussion, the general plan is for this car to be fixed up and put back on the road as a work van. A bit of a rolling advertisement I guess. I'm not sure which should be done first though, escort or Fargo, but I think I can maybe get the escort done cheaper because of the barra conversion in the Fargo probably needs engineering.

Not familiar with that one. Not doing diesel of any kind so any of those ideas are out. Modern fuel injection engines are appealing but all I hear is dollars and engineering which is more dollars. With how many ks I do I really want to go straight gas because it just makes things cheaper on a daily basis. I love ignoring the "petrol cycle". If we didn't live in the nanny country I'd probably consider a warm rover v8 in it just for the sound. Either that or the barra... But I'd want to just build that without having to comply with the rules of bureaucracy

Is barra even legal in Oz? While I'm not opposed to that it wouldn't be goin in the van. I have a barra destined for the Fargo though.

I can't like that post..... it's been contaminated with diesel AND you used the "A****" word!! [emoji33]
