I'm not sure this will end well. Looks are very subjective. Au's may be "ugly" but they've aged better than anything from that era,and are the most reliable car ever built in this country.

The utes are funny,i don't honestly know what you do about the abs.my guess would be get an engine bay loom out of an s2 ded gas ute so the abs is gone. v8 and ltd front onto an xr6 ute mate,i made sure it's all the same series though because i know how bad they are.

Au's change quite a lot from s1 to s2,not the least of which is the security system going from smart lock to smart shield. I reckon you're boned. In the long run even if it is possible to dodge it,you've already put in this much work don't you want it right? Globes look awesome on xd's. I personally hate 12 slotters,i only have them on my wagon ironically.

I run a borg warner in the wagon with brand new genuine gears and a rebuilt lsd,i drive it with 0 sympathy (hence the million broken autos) and have never had a problem. Don't forget all the xr6t's,fpv's and hsv's all run borg warners stock. No need for a 9inch these days unless your going for burnout master at the nats or planning on running 8s.

No such thing as an 8 or 8 3/4 in an xw mate,just borg warner or 9 inch.

Eseries diff will fit straight in. He can use xa onwards stuff to get front discs. Best to adapt an xy booster and master cylinder,the remote xr ones are hard to find and rubbish.

Xe manual are usually low back.

My xd has had an ls1 pump running the steering box since the conversion 2 years ago. It's still going strong and has the best steering feel of any xseries I've ever owned.
