  6. Haha well he would know if ive been doing something on it. Because he will wonder why it had been out in a while. Id have to chat with him, he might also turn around and angree with it lol. Considering he bought the car in 1992, i get why he can be pretty critical of me modifying it too much.
  7. I mean. Im happy to make my own lol. Haha. There are so many mods like that i want to do to my wagon, but the critism from my old man what holds me back. If he didnt have such an attachment to the car, it wouldnt matter so much
  8. Send it to melbourne too haha. Im sure there are a few down here that would use it
  9. haha Chris, very sideways very easy....in the wet I agree Nath. I rebuilt the front end in my XF wagon when i was 21, a few years ago, and decided to go full nolathane front end. made a massive difference, especially when i paired it up with king springs Lows. it handles pretty good for what it is, a fully optioned wagon. but, now that i dont drive the car all that often, i sometimes wonder if thats why i sometimes i get out of it, resenting the car, because it rides too harsh. however, if the coil overs are softer than the kings, its even more of a selling point for me to buy a set for the wagon, plus damper control means in theory, i should be able to get my wagon just the way i want it, or pretty dam close.
  10. Thats awesome. What sort of money to set them up? Im still a bit unsure on how the top plate works.
  11. Hey ando, have you got aby pics of the DIY coil-overs?
  12. yeah usually drivers side sits higher to counteract weight of driver.
  13. probably not. are any aftermarket coil-over type suspension for any car ADR approved? considering in most states they are technically not legal
  14. Im keen to see how these go. I was really keen on a set but would like to see others opinions first. As for that DIY setup, id definitely like more details. Long term goals for my wagon is coil overs up front, and rack and pinion steering converison, so im very keen to see how these go. Why rack and pinion in the wagon? Because its my car and because i can, even if it is $2.5k for the steering conversion lol
  15. Has anyone converted an X series crossflow running a T5 to hydraulic clutch? Im getting ready to replace my T5, which means a new clutch, but whilst I'm at it, I have often wondered about converting it to hydraulic clutch if its possible. Cheers

good cut and polish after painting

Thanks guys, plenty of great advice. Im heading up to work on the car today, i should hopefully get is cleaned up today. I used a colour coded spray on high fill/primer then a 2k acrylic base without a clear, just a blening agent over the top to smooth the blend areas off.
  17. Hi, i have just finished doing some rust repairs on the car, and have resprayed the repaired area. I understand there is a bit of overspray and crap that needs to be cleaned up from the areas around outside where I have blended the new paint with the old. I obviously need to give it a good cut and polish. who can recommend a good cut and polish to use on fresh paint? I want to do this before i put the rear windows back in. Cheers

good cut and polish after painting

Ok thanks SLO, how much do i need to scuff it up? Ill watch a few videos before i do it. Tpak its big enough area to warrant using a rotory, otherwise id be doing it by hand. Plus iv been wanting to invest in a rotory anyway.

Ok ill take a look. How long do they take to deliver? Im pushed for time so if i can get something off the shelf to save a few days, that would be ace.

  24. Hi Guys, I'm in the process of replacing the fan belts on my XF, but i am stuck on the a/c compressor. at the moment i can't get it undone to get the belt lose enough to remove. is it on a slide arrangement like the alternator and power steering pump? or does it need to be unbolted completely to slacken it off?
