    changing from efi to carby

If you are wanting to do this for more power and tunability. You could instead look into changing to an ea or eb1 mpefi ecu and then tune with a J3 chip. That way you could do away with the standard afm and run the MAP and AIT sensors from the E series, this would also give control of ignition and fuel. You already have most of the parts on the car to do it, efi fuel pump & relay, injectors, throttle body & TPS, TFI dizzy, 02 sensor ( if unleaded). I think you would just need the MAP and AIT sensors from the e series. I know It has been done before. They are very similar in layout. It seems like a lot of work to change to carby for no gains. Just an alternative for you.

    200 Crossflow Turbo Head Porting

Yep, Joe Gauci's Corty. What a weapon, I think it's a twin turbo V8 nowadays.

    200 Crossflow Turbo Head Porting

I don't know any engineers, but I'm sure they'd want some proof of the capacity and that "nah mate she's a 200" wouldn't be enough. I'd just hate to get to that point and get knocked back. Besides all that it's a bit different. Ando how did you plan on getting your XM engineered ?

    200 Crossflow Turbo Head Porting

Thanks for the responses guys, Sly I know what you are saying about cam selection, and from what I understand you don't want too much overlap with a turbo motor. I guess it's all a balancing act. If the ports are too big coupled being 200ci with around 8.5:1 compression and a large turbo (MP T70) it will be a dog off boost. If ports/valves are too small you restrict top end power. This is a grose simplification of course. Ando I hear you with the 4litre EF fully counter weighted crank only problem is it will become a 250 again due to the stroke. The last time I read the RTA rules my car can only be 3 times it's weight in capacity with forced induction. 1170 x 3 = 3510cc maximum capacity that's the reason for going with the 200. Otherwise the extra 50 cubes would be great! I will probably talk to someone like Wade or Camtech for their recommendations if you guys think there isn't an off the shelf mild cam suitable. I'm not going to be running massive boost (1.2 bar max) due to the fact that I'll only be using prepped 200 rods and probably hypatec pistons. Looking at the compressor map my turbo can pump a theoretical 450-500 hp worth of air at 1 bar so if I can make everything work as efficiently as possible hopefully it can make good power. As for power levels I want enough power that the car is fun to drive without doing a 360 every time I put the boot in. So I'm guessing maybe 350-400rwhp. If It did anywhere in the 11's I'd be chuffed.

    Wastegate positioning

Hey mate, use photobucket and links etc to upload full size pics. A long shot of the setup would help. From what I can tell it looks like you've cut a hole and welded a turbo flange onto a stock cast iron exhaust manifold and used the old exhaust outlet as a wastegate feed. Correct ? I'm not an absolute messiah of turbo manifolds but I have made/modified a couple that turned out ok. That setup is crude looking and probably not absolutely ideal for power with all of the sharp angles etc. However, if it does control boost (you said running 16psi), you're happy with the spool up and overall power, it probably works fine.

standard xf efi fuel pump help ??

Would you trust an old pump used for a N/A engine making half the power on your expensive motor? 044 setup would work, or possibly a Walbro for an in tank setup.

    E.M.S

Wow pretty rare on a Clevo, that's awesome. EMS seem to have a pretty good name. What model EMS unit is it? Were you going to run coil packs as well?

    XB Log motor rebuild tips

That's crazy, an extreme case of engineering overcoming design. Goes to show that you could make power with a Briggs & Stratton if you threw enough money at it.

    Wastegate positioning

I migged SS to Cast using Nirod years ago, not on an exhaust housing (lining a cast pump) but principal applies regardless."Buttering" does work and gives the weld something to "bite" onto, join some scrap pieces first to perfect you technique if you have doubts, but it definitely can be done.
  10. Why not just get complete late EL- AU3 XR8 running gear ? They rated from factory 185-220kw (gt40p headed). It's not worth the trouble of fitting the e7 headed 165-175kw Windsor from eb-el xr8 and non XR8 v8s in AU. The e7 heads are not great for performance and the manifolds aren't good either so even fitting them to an earlier block would give disappointing results. A manual AU setup with a cam and remap would get along nicely in an XF.
