  1. yes but im talking about the bulge in the passenger side firewall where the heater box  goes,a 400 or 351c head hits the heater pipes and unless major surgury is done there is no room for the hoses to link up,some have smoothed the firewall and used a xe heater in that combo but i think its just better to start with a xe or zk or even fd ltd,i have many people looking for a car for me i dont mind if its a xe shell cause i can build it the way i want it.

  2. a zk fairlane would be ok cause it has the firewall in the normal v8 position, the xf pushes in a bit more that makes the heater non usable ,and for a family car i think i would need it working, and for a roady as well, seems zl is quite easy to find and still an ok car,but i need a earlyer model where a c4 t bar fits spot on and prefer xe sedan or zk i will consider most models, even a xe wagon would be a good machine jacked up high at the rear and big duel exhaust ect,,,and of corse raised white lettering on the tyres.

  3. The 400 reco engine sold last night,$4000,picking up saturday, that facebook marketplace is 1000 times better than e bay,in just 2 days i had 2000 looks instead of 50 looks for 7 days on e bay,now have some cash to look at some wheels for my own 400 engine, but slim pickings out there ,i hope i can snag something that is not advertised, prefer xe sedan roller .

  4. i sold the std bore block and heads to a guy from brisbane who is picking it up later this arv,it didnt last long on marketplace,so i got my money back and the crank n rods i needed, plus a few other bits n pieces.

  5. in scored another 400 a guy is dropping it off in the morning, and for $400 whole engine he said, thats great so i can scavenge the crank n rods out of it for the high nickel block ,will be interesting to de code it.

  6. yeah ive got a 79 xd block here, dont no where you get 72da from ? altho the early black blocks still have CF mark on them cleveland foundry ,even tho they cast in geelong, later black blocks had GF geelong foundry cast on them.

  7. Here is another HOLY GRAIL part i managed to buy this morning ,its a c4 pan fill big block bellhousing, these are very rare in australia and a s*** one goes for about $500 but since covid and not many people going on parts runs to the usa they are almost imposible to find ,i paid $700 for this one and suits a clapper type starter motor so the seller tells me,so now i can fit a c4 to my next 400 build and not worry about will shifters fit or extractor clearance and weight compard to a c6 also tailshaft length and the c6 zaps a fair bit of power,it bolts to any big block pattern 429/460 or 351m/400 and uses std 164 flywheel and converter .vITPdo6F_o.jpgBGp1yznS_o.jpg
