  1. This is the original tooth that came out of the 35 auto box it says 20a but if you look closely you can see a 7 next to it? maybe its a 7 drive gear, might explain why im going through hell trying to work it all out,if its a 7 drive gear what driven gear should i be looking for ? 23 ? it had a 20 with 2.77's2015-10-26%2013.57.19_zpstaimlhmx.jpg

  2. I got the green 21 tooth out of the car the diff came out of and i fitted it but its no different still out by about 10k;s at 100kph,i also noticed the purple 21 tooth i got off e bay had the teeth going in opposite direction to the green ? so im still trying ? last resort is just go for 22 or 23 and see how it goes !2015-10-26%2012.07.03_zpsogepnykq.jpg

  3. yeah i just took it for another run and i reckon its no different than the one i took out,i asked em  for a 21 and by the number on the packet its std fittment for a xe falcon,i did some research and the number i need is c4oz-17271-d which is the green 21 tooth,so i will be ringing them up tomorrow and try to get a swap ?or i will try the ford dealer.

  4. its a red or purple came from auto cables in melbourne i think ,i asked for a 21 tooth but i didnt count it ,i just had a look on the rare spares website and they have a calcuator for ratio's tyres diff gears ect and with the green 21 tooth it should be spot on by the calcuator,i guess i should have checked it well out she comes again tomorrow.

  5. hmmmm i wish i new all this before,i might try what you said or try and get the factory light green one for 3.27,while on the subject i have a fmx here and it has a longer smaller pointed end gear on it ,does that mean its a different thread, like right and left handed ? because when i put the clevo in i need to change that sucker too !

  6. i dont no,its a low km car and all orig as far as i no ? weird how the the 20 tooth came out of there ,maybe thats why the speedo is still out a tad with the 21 tooth,it had a 2.77 drummy in there before and it was spot on in the speedo, when you said a green 21 tooth before thats what is says for factory 3.23 or 3.27 does it really matter what colour it is or any colour just the tooth count ?

  7. ok i fitted it but i think its still not correct,i might have to go for a 22 tooth i put a purple c40z-17271-a i am sure its 21 tooth but let me check ? it seems to be about 8 to 10 k's out.I checked the old one and its a 20 tooth in a borg warner 35 auto but most charts say 18 0r 19 teeth for 2.77,the new part number came up as 21 tooth,so i guess i need maybe a 22 ? im using snowflakes and 225 -60-15 tyres with 3.27 gears.

  8. yeah this mob have been in the game for 30 years and im gunna drop the car off to get it all soughted out by the pro's ,he said for $650 you get all new bearings,LSD pulled apart and checked ? and 2nd hand set of what ever gears came out,and correctly shimmed and right ware pattern on the gears so i guess just get it done.

  9. thanks,i rang the local diff shop and he said did the open centre have the vibration and i said no,then he said check your pressures in the rear tyres make sure they are the same ,because you have a LSD now that sounds like a common complaint to him,so off i go to the servo and yep the back left was down a bit on the other one ,so after fixing the pressure it didnt vibrate at all !

  10. so is there a way to get to the correct pre load on the carrier bearings ? im gunna have to pull it all out again and get all new wheel and carrier bearings,on take off with the way it still is there is a slight vibration that goes away once speed picks up ,could this be incorrect lining up of the gears ?

  11. The whole thing to me is the sound,my last xe had a single exhaust and it just didnt sound the way a v8 should, thats why im keen to get it right this time and upgrade the fuel system at the same time,or just dump the pipes at the diff.

  12. The only covers i had to modify was a set of boss style alloy covers, made by holley in the usa, many others had copys of these weiand ect,,,they had oil drippers inside the cover that needed to be ground down to fit yella terra rollers.

  13. funny that because ford back in the day did so many tests on the new plastic fuel tanks and even dropped them off the top of 2 story buildings to show how strong they were, the main problem with doing a dual exhaust on a xe -xf  is the tank and the watts linkage on the passenger side ,so most just go for a short dumped twin at the mufflers ,well thats what i plan to do,and move the fuel line so the exhaust doesnt heat it up,cheers.
