i want to build a engine run stand but dont like the price of a ready built one,i guess start building a hd frame on wheels then weld in some supports with a set of v8 chassis mounts and dummy fit the block with a bellhousing and weld a support bracket for the bell.

Just previously talked about that black heads are the last revision and were tidy up a bit to make a little more power ,also painted the edelbrock logo and heat thing with ford dark blueI would say "yes", you do need them. The oil doesn't just lubricate the pivot, it cools it as well. I've had my rocker covers off while running and noticed that on the oil deflectors that were broken, the oil shot out of the hole by a good foot or so, which means each one was shooting the oil up under the rocker cover and missing the rocker pivot completely.
What did you mean by "adding to the argument" about black motor heads? Do you mean there definitely is a difference, or that you can't see much in it?

Ok its done and just bolted a new roxker hey do you really need the oil deflectorJust starting on this other head ,the springs have a damper in them , also this adds to the debate over black xe heads looks like niagra falls

It requires drilling/tapping in the valley to screw the spider down, which of course creates shavings you need to clean up. I think the spider type lifter is a better long-term upgrade than the tie-bar type. Seen stories of catastrophic failures on the latter.

Comp do a nice small basic 1500/4500 with tiny lift that suits my new stamped steel rockers , in the kit you get the spider and lifters that resemble the efi 5.0If the roller cam is a proper retrofit, the base circle of the cam is made smaller to accommodate the longer lifters, so should be right for std pushrods. This also prevents the lifter from otherwise poking out too far at max lift, causing oil pressure to dump out the top of the lifter bore via the lifter oil feed hole.
Check first though, although I researched this a while back, I have never actually fitted a retrofit roller to a clevo.

Hey does anyone know if i need different length pushrods if going the roller cam route compard to std length hyd ?Do it anyways........ won't do any harm. Give you a nice new seal surface, also tells you if your valves are bent.

I lapped em in anyway and did just one head today springs are rated to 540 lift and a nice upgrade for a mild cam without breaking the budgetHey do i need to use the paste on the valves or not as they are going back in the same slot ? Im just waiting on my valve springs to arrive then can assemble them

While waiting for parts to arrive i started with a soft brass wheel and cleaned up the manifold and this morning bought a chemtech aluminium cleaner whixh probly would have done the same job but lets give it a go it says dilute it or use as is for heavy stainsOnly concern is can you loosen that big centre bolt to flip the thing into its slot on the aussie v8 frame mounts i guess so ? Also this has been bugging me for years will a 351c girdle fit a 400 and by these pics i just took it seems so, ford just took so much off each side to fit 3 inch mains

I never get sick of pushing my head backwards and forwardssaid 120 then 240 from what i saw.
on a thick sheet of perspex(that's probably where the $50 went?)
i guess it would depend what you are building but if i was spending thousands on a GOOD engine, $180(2 heads) to be done right is a drop in the ocean. are they also doing the intake and exhaust surfaces for that? if so, even more bargain.
i reckon you'd get sick of pushing a head back and forth pretty soon. i'd more likely do it just to see IF it's got uneven patches.. if not i'd possibly use it just clean, otherwise i'd be getting it machined
