  1. gerg also remember the usa clevo used a shorter pushrod than our clevos or it could be the other way around i know its about 020 ,i found this out the hard way, once machine work is done those heights on the pedistall might be ok instead of using shims under the rocker😂

  2. ok i jumped on a usa 4x4 trux forum and this is what this engine was a big ass 4x4 f truck engine, but in saying that the only difference is that dipstix that is blocked off and the 4 x 4 sump has the dipstix going into it,but no mention of 2 stepped main bolts.

  3. I TOOK the block down and first thing he said was that block has more lip than mick jagger, but should clean up nice at 040,he fixed the broken bolt in 5 mins, and then took the cam bearings out,now into the tank for a few days before boring and honing, hopefully by friday i can pick it up and paint it .
Hey does anyone know why these 2 main cap bolts are stepped ? Only just noticed this after cleaning3693996129f038f232972e11365ebe18.jpg

  5. Today i did some more cleaning work to get the block ready and im seeing a few things different in the casting to the earlier blocks as this one is a 1980 its a very late 400 block and the last revision as it has some little oil drainback difference mainly to unobstruct the flow back to the sump also cleaned the caps and it has CF cast into every nookie on this anchord714afff322cbb6c16df0b438be208ee.jpg8fa75c7c277902b9d9663b2dcd4f1b4c.jpg63074af7170d94f933cf4992cd37f11c.jpg

  10. D7TE-A3B BLOCK OUT OF CLEVELAND FOUNDRY IS OK,and cast date looks like 0j13 so she is a very late 351m/400 block will be interesting tomorrow when i clean it up a bit and get it ready for the tank.pztRLJsa_o.jpg

  11. I got the correct one it was 3/4 and fits perfectly and its blue5eba707fee8ee5cb3bf9dd1b16f0becf.jpg

The 351m block is here and its in ok cond perfect for re co std bore and gerg will like this one its a CF casting cleveland foundry i have never had one of these before,by the cast date which is hard to read i think its a 1980 but its definitely out of a f truck by the engine number and rear pick up bolt on mains i will take it to olm8 on monday if lockdown is over 4pm sunday and get him to do his trick on it.8b31ab73dd4dee74a954a8ac93bafc1a.jpg87819e5c87dd4d81538cf89fa1e0e883.jpgf1da6a829f9f25d2c6a6c34b172ad1ee.jpg112d5dee219c765e143eb4d6092672fb.jpg9b17aefc780ab1d432a3933f366ee4a7.jpg

  13. yes 351m is the same block as a 400 just uses a 351 windsor style crank but uses same rods as a 400 but a taller piston

  14. my other 400 block is due on friday, its a 351m block but like its smaller brother, its the same block and even rods,so ya just need a 400 crank and pistons and ya set to go,being a 351m block it will be a 1975 or later casting cause they didnt come out until 1975,im hoping its a 78 or 79 casting but not fussed as its gunna be a dead stock rebuild,i have all parts lined up ready to go once olm8 tanks it and bore 040 with the silverlite pistons i got in the kit from the usa,its been a dam hard run of months on end trying to locate a block within driving distance ,when i fluked the d1ae high nickel block that was only a under 2 hrs drv,i also made freinds with a dude who imports a container every 3 months and stuffs it full of crap,he said its very easy to grab these 351m/400 in the scrap yards complete and put in the container,im pretty sure he is a f truck guy i havent met him yet but he is dropping off my block this week, and even got it cheaper $350 std bore, cause i have been out of work since covid hit,im thinking of just going in a bit deeper in 400 and other gear from usa,and try and make something of it cause no one is really specilizing in 400s,and maybe some other 460 stuff from late model trucks .

  15. I think i found my base for the run stand i spoke to the wollies managers and they said oh mate we just got rid of about 20 of em always my luck but he said just keep asking and next time he will find a damaged one to give me,i want the h.d..ba5737e3522ed11e72b819a0c0f9c012.jpg

  16. Bros ZH 302c, 350 Holley, 3.0 9", got 15.3lt/100km with slipping almost dead C4 auto (with no 2nd gear),
Dissy gear depends on what core is used Comp -8 cams are cast core which can use composite & maybe steel (I need to research them a bit) as where -9 is steel billet that needs bronze which wear over time, or Comp & Crow sell melonized/melonite gears which can be used on different cores cast flat tappet, hyd roller & 1050 soild roller & don't wear out.
    Crow MG6 (.531") MG11 (.491") $99ea

  17. I'll PM you a bunch of links, I've got links to older catalog listings.
Ahh ok i looked at tighe ,crane, crow, comp and nothing around 530/540 lift ,its like it goes straight to 550 560 up if i could find a nice say roller around 530 ish

  18. new crate 430hp 475ft/lb 7.3 Godzilla is $7000 USD, then plus taxes & freight, there is at least 2 companies importing them to Aus,
My Bro uses a knife sharping stone at work for cleaning up block & head surfaces. BEAR/Norton KS100 large Silicon carbide combo stone, has coarse & fine side, I use same for knifes.
Rod shop mounts look good, I have their trans mount in my black ute,
Cam range is based on 351 so 1500/4500 would be more like 1000-4000ish on 400M, like my 302C cam is rated as up to 5000 but pulls to 5500,
Crow cams have a few of lower lift (under .550") hyd rollers up to 226/230@50. also one at 552/553 which should work with std rockers
I always thought around 500 lift was max for std rockers but if i could go a bit bigger all good
