XF STEERING COLUMN QUESTION
CHESTNUTXE replied to CHESTNUTXE's topic in Steering, Suspension and Brakes
yeah thats what i figured i no there is 1 at the wreckers, might grab it,i think you can buy a new 20.1 box on e bay for about $200 as they are not in demand,or the 16.1 if you can find one, usualy about $600 or $750 reco,i think you need the xa style one ,the xw-xy are different ? -
A mate just called me and said do i want these seats, they are out of his 99 model xh panel van, they look like they have hardly been used, for some reason he swapped them out for some other type ???? can someone tell me do these seats need some sort of cover on the inside(see pictures),i suppose they would fit in my xg ute,i got them very cheap,im stoked.
-
yeah i looked at a saas seat,or i could just use the passenger seat and swap rails yeah ?
-
ok thanks i might just get this seat re done with new foam trim is ok just saggy
-
i need to buy a drivers seat for my xg drag ute project,it already has a normal sagged seat, will ef -el-au or ba bf fit ?i mean will it bolt straight in or use the rails off the xg seat ?
-
definatly a open and shut case
-
yep the xe had the crimped, but once fixed its all good times
-
well the doors have huge play and drop when opened i looked at the actual hinge it seems fine just the pin bushing has failed i hope.i think the xg ones have a clip you just remove to tap the old pin and bush out.
-
ok the xg i just bought needs both doors done,or would it be better to just take the fookin doors off ? i could use the hinges off the wagon i just bought are xf the same, they look the same at the front,i remember once doing a xe and it was a bastard off a job, ended up cutting the bottom one off with a thin wheel, but the xg ones look like they had improved the pins.

i got the powerbond st/strip balancer, looks good, now i can get it all balanced
-
ok i was under the impression that the cast iron bell only fits the early box's as i have had a look at a few different box's.
-
This has been bugging me for while and nobody can seem to tell me,when using a c4 on a crossflow street/strip,are people using the pre 1970 box with the smaller input shaft and just beefing up the box or using the later post 1970 box with the larger spline, reason i ask this is i dont see any aftermarket bellhousings for a 250 to suit the later box ?,or is the earlier windsor style box up to the task once prepped,i have found in america a few c9 alloy bells to suit 200 c.i but the starter sits way down compaird to our aussie engines, from what i have found the xd (taxi c4) is a good choice altho its still the earlier design, and the bell is cast iron like all the 6cyl bell's.
