Im using a penrite LSD blue-green alien blood limslip 80-90,to be honest i picked up the axles and centre and they were so busy only a few words were said,i just did the brakes and put the diff hat on ,will fill up tomorrow and spin the wheels a bit before going on the maiden voyage.

yup you can see that in the picture,im going out to the garage now to put the brakes back on and the diff cover.

cheers,i new about the screw but didnt think it was that ajustable,thanks,only problem i just got all the dash working choice and dont really feel like undoing it all again just yet.

what is the bearing retainer ? i just got the diff shop to install the gear,and i fit it.

nope,i figured just leave it,the diff shop guy went for a spin in the car and said its just carrier making the noise so i got the wheel bearings done to,i wasnt going to spend massive money they quoted so i just wanted to give it a go myself,now i see why a 9 '' carrier is so easy because the whole centre just comes out ,not like the b/w but its good having a go yourself.

I picked up the carrier and axles,new bearings ,i fitted them allready and noticed the shims were harder to install this time,so i guess a bit more preload,thats good.

you mean run a cast steel crank or forged ?

I see what you mean,good idea,i will do that then take it for small drive around the block,hopefully the noise will be gone and then check the oil again on the diff.

ok cant wait until the test drive on saturday,do you put grease or oil on the new bearings ? or just fit 'em and thats it ?

Hey guys what is the most common fuel tank in the boot upgrade for a xe sedan,30L ? 60 L ? and what size fuel line 3/8 th ? or bigger,and i want to run the line down the passenger side of the car.

I just pulled it all out again,axles,centre, ect... only took 1 hour and half,on wed im dropping the LSD centre off at the diff shop and they are putting new carrier bearings and new wheel bearings,then i hope this will be sorted,i will try and find a cheap diff spreader ,i have the shims that came out but i think it might need a bit more preload on the new bearings,i could get the centre out with a couple of jults with a big crowbar,so i dont no if it was enough preload ?

What is your favourite looking ford ,in my opinion its the xe ghia esp in 2 tone ,or maybe the xa xb xc 2 door coupe,and i have always hated the look of the au series and ea falcon,funny after the au and ea came a top looking car called the ba and the eb was always a good looking car in the e series.Tell what yours is .

Yes the xc GXL is a very nice looker with that square headlight front ,bonnet vents ect...

just looks ,not engines or reliable,i actually think the au fairlane /ltd is quite a good looking car,i drove one for 1 year.

yeah hard to find those acl short skirt pistons,no way am i gunna pay 2 grand for a aftermarket set up,im sticking with my normal crank and rod set up,and add other goodies to it.

What about how the longer rod weigh's more than the shorter rod ?

I am suprised no after-market xe ghia headlights have never been made,the normal ones are plentiful ,the prices people are asking for ghia headlights is silly !

This is the only diff i have ever had to do work on,like you said just buy the complete ratio one to start off with,all the diffs i have bought have been perfect in the past just bolt em in and change the oil,but its a good learning curve about shims and mesh ect....

I want to give this another go,just mainly to save money,i will pull it all out again and get new carrier bearings fitted,new wheel bearings,i have not touched the pinion at all ,so about $250-$300 for bearings and i will re install it all,at $650 plus what ever it needs which is gunna be a grand i will give it another shot.

yeah he said the c4 are totally different,the grey 22 is still availible if anyone else wants one from ford.

yep i took it out,i rang old mate at FORD and he said from xa to xe should have 8 drive gear and i told him whats going on and he said get the 22 grey which is still availible for $35 so thats what i will try next,??????

Look the gears are facing different ways ? the purple is 21 off e bay and the brown is the 20a out of the car originaly.

i reckon its a 7 drive gear,look at picture

This is the original tooth that came out of the 35 auto box it says 20a but if you look closely you can see a 7 next to it? maybe its a 7 drive gear,might explain why im going through hell trying to work it all out,if its a 7 drive gear what driven gear should i be looking for ? 23 ? it had a 20 with 2.77's
