where does the purge go to that is written on it.

hmmmm the machine shop guy said all were pretty good except 1 ,nothing off the block,but im guessing some off the heads,(the heads had been done up some years ago 73cc ,aftermarket springs and retainers,by the compression calcuator 9.1.1,speed pro flat tops

I took it all apart again and this time got it 99% right,this time i set the preload on the base circle of the cam and only a slight preload of 1/2 to 3/4 of a turn on the bolt,i watched a you tube video where after setting the preload you should still be able to push the set up into the plunger a bit,and i had way to much load on the springs as it was hard to start,as soon as i re-set everything, it fired up so easy and idle was better,and yup the rocker noise was just about non detectable,i remember when i had the heads re-coed,that 1 seat had to be redone ,and when i set the preload on it ,i had to use a longer pushrod by 0.062,all of the adjustments were all over the place some no shim ,some shim,just goes to show just dont bolt em all down thinking it will be sweet as because its worth spending the time getting it right even with non adjustable rockers.

nice,many rare combo's are out there,anybody got any picture's of a fairmont sierra tan seats and door card's.

Over the years i have seen many GL cars with the s pack type seats fitted ,mainly a lot of blue striped seat's.

Yes close its's from a GL FALCON orderd with T2 CODE striped wool seats,quite rare these day's.

I just did the first oil change and added another comp cams cocktail container ,took it for a good half an hour drive ,soon i will change the dizzy springs to suit the new cam cause its not giving enough advance at 12 deg.

Today with not much to do i got on you tube and watched many old daytona races ,and by 1987 the cleveland had set the record for the fastest mph ever at 210 plus with billy elliott behind the wheel of the thunderbird,(good ol aussie pillow-blocks)plus reading old u.s. grand national racers tips on building a cleveland,this is where the 4v heads really came into their design to run at big rpm .

Update ,it was in 1987 that bill elliott held the record for the fastest average speed for a nascar,212mph and had 4v cleveland heads.At some stages of talledega those unresticted engines could have hit 230 mph !

I have a leak at the flange fitting at the front of the 750 vac,rear is ok,i have tried normal thread tape,and also a white paste sealer,nope that didnt work,is there a correct tape used for gasoline as i am finding the white tape getting eaten by the fuel.

yep the new fuel fitting worked 1st time,no tape,no leaks.

yeah kevin bartlett said they held up to the job and saved a heap of weight,but he wasnt convinced at first.

ok i dropped it back to around 12 and 32-33 and the plugs have cleaned up seems the factory dizzy has about 16 degrees of advance in it,probly not worth changing the springs unless it was a more aggressive cam say over .500 lift,down the track i am going to fit a ICE dizzy system on the engine,as there is not much available for the later cleveland blocks with the different size bushing,unless you mill the MSD.

Nah she is a genuine dizzy,i just watched a video on changing the springs in the advance to a bit stiffer than stock to stop it advancing so much,the way its set up would be for a stock low lift 420 cam ,so i mist change the rate of advance,so i can run smaller initial 12-14 and 32 total,at the moment its 20 and 36

ok cause i started at 12 initial ,then over the past week i bought a vaccum guage and timing light and did a tune and set the mixture correctly,it seems to run better with heaps more timing around 20 deg and 35 total ,it doesnt ping ,open chamber heads,9.1.1.comp,98 fuel,most advice i can find say 10-12 degrees for a street engine ,and a total of 34-36 degrees,with 12 degrees set the power hangs on all the way but you can tell it needs a bit more,so over the next week i will do a number of tests,i knocked it back today just a little bit and it seems ok but i will keep playing with it,buying the vaccum guage was cool i have 16 inches of vaccum so the 6,5 powervalve is fine,and it helps setting the mixture.

we are talking about m 351 not 351 cleveland buddy.

i remember the budd moore box manifold,it was very sucsessful.

some big carbies they are using there ! remember the weiand was made for a 289-302 cube engine and might suffer on a larger c.i. set-up,i would rather have the low down power.

I took hendrixhc advise and ended up giving my crossy to one of those fun run cars for charity,i was all keen for 6 months to hotting it up ,but as soon as i nearly broke my seat shifting from 1st to 2nd in the new clevo i have decided just to stick with it.
