These AOD trannys are you shore they change 1-3-4 then only kick down into 2nd,i see b and m do one for $3500 from the u.s.,for my FMX a gearvendor is about $2700 u.s.. -
ok after spending 2 hours this morning doing the pre load again its just about spot on,when the exhaust starts to move adjust the intake to zero lash plus 1/4 to 1/2 a turn,and when the intake is on the way up do the exhaust, on non adjustable clevo or crossys,i used a combo of 030 and 060 shims and std 8.408 and 8.470 pushrods to get it spot on,no rocker noise at all now and was really careful not to push down on the tip to much that the valves started to open,another lesson done.

Yeah I am using them on my clevo,I'm just checking because I have another set which are marked different again.

yes ok its out of a nc fairlane which is 93-94 i think thats way before the EL. it has a converter as well,but no flywheel.i assume my 6cyl linkages will go straight in. -

so it sounds like your up shit creek without a paddle if trying to find a 4 speed auto to fit a cleveland .But what i originaly asked is if i wanted to put a 5.0L windsor in the xg can i use the 6 cyl box and just change bellhousings and converter ect like are they the same box . -

I have just been looking on wikipedia ,there is a lot of variants to the AOD ,AOD-E, SO ON AND SO ON,right up to the latest box,the aod came out in america in 1980 and was actually first on the drawing board at ford in the mid sixties,but was shelved until years later. -
While its out why not if it needs it,but I'm leaving mine because it scratches so easy and finding another ghia perspex is hard.

ok but the b/w teeth go in the opoisite way ,i found this out in my bw-35 unless the au tranny tooth is on the passenger side ? I had a look ,the au is a left hand tooth so i dont no how long its going to hold up in your box but if it works ,well done,the fmx box have right hand teeth and an extended nose ,where others are shorter.

i think c4 and fmx are the same i will do some more searching ,i might have read somewhere that TCI do a 26 or 24 tooth for short gearing.

ok cheer's i have a 20 tooth in the fmx that i imagine had a 2.75 ratio and i am running 3.27 ,the same thing happend when i had the b/w 35 in there i upgraded the gears from 2.77 to 3.27 and used a green 21 tooth but it was still about 10km out so i suppose im looking for a 23 and then use the trim pot,i cannot find a tooth for a fmx bigger than 21 on e bay so ?

ok i wonder will it work mine is 19km over,tomorrow i will put the rear end up on stands and adjust the speedo .

ok sounds good m8,also i have read so many times in diff forums that your speedo can be adjusted the same way if your still out after changing the plastic tooth drive,well im still looking for it on the speedo ?

ok i am using my old resister off the crossy,i thought that was just for bad radio interferance,???? Please any more info please add because mine is still all out and waiting to re asemble.

gerg say's hold your rev's at 2000 then turn the slot down to 1500 and that should be about right,but if you have a good multi meter then get someone to call out the rpms and adjust to be more precise .

I made the fatal mistake of trying to adjust the slot while keeping the speedo in and broke mine.Just to the right you can see the small silver adjusting slot for the rpm's.Plug your cluster back in and calibrate with a tiny screwdriver .

Then take the speedo out so that you can get to the tiny adjustment slot.

i just got mine done on the xe with a single,1 -3/4 primarys then into 2-1/4 then merged into a 3'' single with a stainless hooker aero chamber stright thru and 3'' out v back,very good noise when you open it up,and quiet just putting around,last single i had was a 2-1/2 inch but if i was you i would go a 3''.
