i reckon my mate was just thinking of the xbgt thinking the xc (gt-gxl) had the same set up.
-
THOSE thermoquads had a tag on em to suit the engine tranny combo,eg..a certain one would only suit a 302 4 speed, althou there was slight difference in choke department between auto a manual, its possible that manifold started in xc but i have only seen em on xd's onwards,i have had 2 xc engines both 302,s with squarebore irons ? probly cause someone changed them sometime, another mate reckons the GXL came with a squarebore but i dont belive that, the whole thing is any of these cast iron manifolds came be swapped with an adaptor to suit any carb set up,just the squarebore ones are becoming scarce.

after about 100km of driving the plugs are clean but now im getting a cough or sneeze at high rpm when the secondaries are opening, maybe now the float is to low ?
-
I checked the switch again and yeah it wont pull out that 2nd time so i will try and find a working one, because my car is a replica i put the ghia loom for the driving lights but they are not wired up yet,so is the factory way to hook them up to the left switch as well with the bosch spotties ?
-
Just the one on the right banno, the pictures on the switches differ slightly ,when i put the underdash all back together im sure the spottie knob wont go on the normal light stalk they are different fittment.
-

yes true i left my engine number raw on the block ,very easy to see.

I remember a story from the late 80's when a guy went to register a genuine GTXB sedan after spending good money on a nice paint job the RTA at five dock put acid on the chassis number to make sure it wasnt tamperd with.
-
All the person does is shine a torch on the number and check it against the paperwork, they dont poke-sand-rub-grind or anything,it took me 10 minutes and it was all done, that was in QLD.
-
Just stamp it ya self and lob up and get it done.

You can start with just getting a little bit of a corner off and the rest should follow quite easy,or use a wide scraper and be careful not to damage the bodywork, use petrol or kero and a rag to get old tape or glue off, same with the moulds make sure they are super clean before putting back on with 3m tape ,3 x small lengths should be enough all the way down .
