Just as a precaution i started with light setting on the new engine +60 thou shim with normal 8.408 std length pushrods, because i new the heads have been shaved,after break in i went to +30 shim and it didnt seem to do much about the rocker noise,so then i took the shims out totaly and still not much different,then discoverd i had the incorrect fulcrum which was +80 thou taller than the std cleveland ones ,so i bought the manley std cleveland fulcrums started her up waited till its warm and nope rocker noise still there ? so i bought a set of + 62 thou pushrods and put it all back together today it seemed maybe a bit better but im not convinced ? when doing the preload i can see and feel the pushrod going down into the lifters with plenty of preload ,any idea what else it could be ? there is only rocker noise at idle,once the revs increase and oil presure picks up its as quiet as anything and hauls ass,surley it could not need more longer pushrods eg'' 8.550 ?

I always here that in any sort of performance build ,the dizzy has the curve changed to suit the new cam,i imagine thats the advance springs that are changed ? can people add what they had done as i am about to get my factory xe electronic done,as with the more expensive units like ICE and MSD some models have over 60 settings to suit your engine.

Thom can you say please where it is machined different ? Maybe someone tried to retro-fit a 2.77 into it ? with the bigger axel's ?

im just gunna put the gears on my centre,should be straight forward,i really want an original xe 351 auto diff like what came in the police option chaser or LTD fitted with a 351c should be 2.77 and 28 spline axles,they are very rare,plenty of 302 diffs with the 2.92 gears next best option i suppose,there is a thread on these diffs in xfalcon i have seen b4,a 4 speed 351 xe would have had the 2.92 like in a esp,but auto's seem to get a 2.77 ,if anyone has a factory 351 auto xe or GL chaser type please tell us your diff if its still original .

ok thanks wagoon,thom why would it be different in what way ? the LSD centre is actualy out of a 3.23 diff .Then i put the 3.27 gears on it,down at the local wreckers i can get a 3.08 ea diff for $40 ,but it aint pretty.

I run an EB V8 one in the xe with a fmx and 351 had no problem so far.

seems everytime i watch something ford on you tube in america its one of those 80's mustangs,and the 5.0L is very popular,over here we were still using the cleveland until late 1982 in new cars,and 1985 in f trucks and others,tell me did the 351w ever come out in those 80's mustangs.

The way it was portrayed ,he sought of went a bit hippi or alternate in the end,i hope DJ doesnt grow his hair long lol.

I fitted the kickdown lever to my FMX ,was basic with the holley kit mentioned above,and a few c clips ,you can also tune the kick to throttle position on the carby,looks good on a factory stock engine.

what is easy is fitting them when the engine is on the crane in the engine bay a few inches above where it bolts in,the passenger side is no real problem,but the drivers side comes close to the steering box and starter motor.

Yes those back 2 bolts on drivers side can be a pain,i cut a spanner in half to get it in better,top one is not to hard but that under one is testing.

just have a look under the 2nd intake runner,probly a e2 if late model.

to get all in earleir sounds right in my app,atm my home tune with a std xe dizzy i feel there is to much initial to get it to run ok,the powerbond street balancer is painted black by the factory and is bloody so hard to read so i put a white marker at 13 deg ,and also one at 35 deg total,anything under 13 it fuels up and coughs but seems to come near perfect around 2000rpm and above.
