guys im asking what will happen if i put the 3.47 1st gear with the clevo thats all ,not what you did with your t5,i will buy the correct bell when needed,will the 3.47 be to short ?

First job for the new xg ute was picking up this cleveland i bought very cheap complete with flywheel /clutch and 2 barrel holley,it was a runner but needs an overhaul,i imagine its a 302 cleveland ,probly out of a f truck,mid 70's it also has some weird things done to it like check the vaccum valve in the rocker cover LOL and also a stamp of some sort probly from the joint that re coed it b4,so lets pull this motor down and rebuild it .

i finished off the engine by 9am,now clean up the garage for the blue xe and body time.

after having a lot of practice on the last engine i reckon i have the preload spot on this time b4 start-up,the inlets seem to want 030-060 shim and exhausts seem perfect the way they are ,i like to put between half and 1 full turn on hyd lifters from zero lash.

old mate did a realy good job on the 2v opens ,new exhaust valves ,shaved,and new heavier springs to suit the cobra jet .490 lift cam

sump goes on ,i will head down to old mates now and pick up the heads

yeah i got it cheap and had it cleaned ,the new oil pump is on.

actualy just about all the parts have now come ,i have to pick up the re-co heads at old mates maybe tomorrow ,i also got a spreadbore xd-xe cast iron manifold for him to clean in the bath,hopefully will pick em both up today or tomorrow then on the weekend will put the painting away for a day and finish off the enngine.

i think your right that top one could be a xg column.

Guys i need a blank steering column for my xg will a xf fit ?or can i take apart the one i have and add the plastic shroud over it ?

yes only very mild engines i build,i have the opp to buy a xg t5 but can i use that with a v8 with its 3.25 or 3.50 first gear ?

i looked at prices for a tko500 or 600 and its like $2500 u.s.,i see a bellhousing to suit t5 from castle rod shop for about $600 for a clevo i assume a 11 inch clutch will fit in that,can i mate this up to a xg t5 and have a trans shop put a 2.95 first gear ? still gunna be miles cheaper than tko

ok and if i butcher my column in the ute i found this blank xe surround to cover where the gear stick goes ?

i got a consul as well i am hoping this will go straight in.says ea falcon on it,but i need a surround for the auto stick,and ash tray for the rear if anyone has something please.

i was just down the wreckers and i found a blank eb-ed column and a xf they seem to be the same but the ed has the adjustable up and down ,but the real question is will a ea-ed column fit a xg with a steering box,cause the others had a rack ,unless they all line up the same ? i no when i changed my xe from column non power steer to power steer i needed the correct colomn because of the crush sleeve or something like that ?

finding it hard to find one,what about this smartlock system if i put the clevo in ,will i still need a computer because the btr and inj engine are gone.

i probly just should stick with the one i have it seems identical but without the balancer.
