Hey i was out at wagoons this morning and he told me he had this 4 speed box if i wanted it,so yeah i will take it with me,a bit of research b4 i went out there by the pic's he sent me says its a 3.3 crossy 5 speed ,82 model too,alloy bellhousing you can lift the whole thing up with 1 hand practicly,it says this box was put behind bluebirds,corona's ,ect,,,,but when i try and find 5th it aint going anywhere ,does the box have to be moving to engauge the overdrive or wtf ?see pictures with the 5 on the casting just like it says on the internet about these boxes,even says 1 guy put 1 behind a 302w and if driven sensibly worked out ok.

interesting also that DJ was using a moded internal rail box with top loader guts inside the box in the greens tuff era,ford in america gave him 2 boxes so the rumor has it,very big weight saving over the std top loader box.

Plastic coated gears as others have suggested lol,there was a 4 speed version made it just doesnt have the overdrive fitted ,the case is the same as the 5 speed,others have fitted the 5th out of a sigma box and quite easy they said to do,also the car had a 2,92 diff as standard so i thought it was 5 speed straight away as the 5 speeds were either 2.92 or 3.23.

yeah i think she is a 4 speed model 506 reverse is like the single rail.

i just did some research and it say's there is a 505,506 4 speed ,and 507 5 speed,and a jap box version as well,wait until i clean it and see what it is,could just be a 4 speed with no overdrive fitted which is the 506.

but where is 5th ? it dont want to enguage,wagoon said he only used 4 gears and never new it had a 5th

i might put an add for wanted- a wide ratio single rail either 2.82 or 3.08 1st gear ,or maybe have my one modded ?

Guy's i need to no is this going to work or do i just go the t5 gearbox,i have 3 single rails 1 x xf,2 x xe 4.1 carby,i assume they have around the 3.50 first gear,is this going to work with a mild 351c or should i look for a earlier single rail with the 3.08 or 2.82 first gear ?,i can get my hands on a t5 from a xg that has 3.25 first,i still have to buy a aftermarket bellhousing for the conversion,and want to get it right,i have 2.92 gears and both the banana crossmember and the std one,so can anyone help with info is it ok to run the 6 cyl single rail box behind a v8.

the one in the garage is 0503-039 which i guess is the 3.47 1st,the tag is missing off the other 1,and i just learnt that the efi xe 4.1 has the 3.06 first gear,and possibly 84-85 pre unleaded xf's.

ok thanks,but i like the weight saved by the aftermarket single rail bellhousing,im going out to the garage and taking a look at the tags on the rails.

i did some research a alloy bellhousing for a single rail is about $350 and the dellow t5 one is $700 not cheap.

is there anyway of putting a wider 1st gear in a single rail ?

gerg in your t5 thread you put your running a early t5 with 3.27's is that right ,what if its 2.92 would that make a huge difference or am i swapping deck chairs on the titanic.
