Hi All,
So my engine has develop a noise which I would describe as a chatter from around 3000 rpm.
Normal driving I change gear around 3000 and the engine produces the chatter noise.
If I put my foot down the engine make more of a rattling noise from 3000 up but it's not as noticeable.
Im thinking valve train so I checked and adjusted the lash at .020, no change.
I thinking possibly harmonic vibration, hope not.
Anyone have any ideas or what else it could possibly be?
Cheers

Cheers mate, I had it happen again a little higher in the rpm. So I've turned it up to 8800. Lol

Hi All,
Anyone had issues with the street fire ignition box's, in particular the rev limiter?
I had it set at 6500, haven't hit it, or not sure if it was even working but today it came on a few times some where around 4500 to 5000, at least thats what i assumed the problem was. I turned it up to 6800 and the issues seemed to go away.
Just wondering if this is a common issue with the ignition box or not?

Hi all, been quite awhile since I been in here. Ended up facing facts that I'd never get around to repainting my corty, so i put it back together so to enjoy it again. Should be a picture attached below. Pretty happy with how its running, I just whooped a vz v8 Calais not sure if it was a 5.7 or 6.0 but mehh, seen him roll down his window behind me when we were cruising, I'm guessing so he could confirm he just got done by a 6 haha.

One more idea then im done
IF the swaybar is at its longest point past it as it sits now, you could fit blocks between the chassis mounts pulling the arms forward. If its not at its longest point obviously just going to make it worse. Or pull the swaybar forwards. Adjustable swaybar mounts would be good

Ah I seenot a bad idea winton, but it wouldn't achieve anything sadly. because the sway bar is also the castor rods, so when you lower the car it makes it longer towards the back, pushing the arms back

Just an idea, would it be possible to fit a wedge shaped spacer between the strut and body? And I say just an idea never herd of it done before. If you can fab it yourself it would be cheep to do, just time consuming.

How did you actually pick up on the fact the diff was twisted?
Yeah this is a rear loading diff, essentially the same as a falcon wagon/ute/van diff. Leaf sprung borg warner.
it was so bad it was obvious. It was in a te, coil sprung rear end so it was able to twist a lot. On one side the tire was touching the wheel arch behind the rear seat. The other side was towards the boot and almost touching the wheel arch

I had a corty that had a similar diff issue but much worse. The axle tubes twisted in the cast housing causing the misalignment. From memory the MK1's have the same stile of diff with the steel tubing into the cast housing.

About the only other option is an electric motor on the column. Out of curiosity have you felt the push pull type of PS with the engine running? From memory the have free play till the pump is running.

Well I had a look but couldn't find them. Sure I have some somewhere and the loom to hook them up. When I come across them will let you know.

Nah sorry slipped my mind. I'll have a look next weekend. Could help if you remind me.

I've always just give cast metal a good wacking with a hammer. Could be time to apply heat.

this is a possibility but it's not noisy at idle.
