easy conversion dont cut shit ,,get a die grinder ,elongate the holes on the engine xmember forward, then get cleveland engine mount platesan elongate holes to the rear 1 inch on both parts, with the heater hoses stick a small piece of wooden dowl in them an gently pull upwards being careful not to break or split them, you dont need to hit cut belt the fire wall just leave it alone ,you will however have to get rid of that stupid fire wall pad, and trim down those long heater studs,
you will need to get power steering hoses made
use v8 xd xe radiator or xf 2x core heave duty radiator
if u need more info please ask as ive done this conversion heaps of times ,

have you checked the length of the old vs the new bolts
-
are you snapping the same head bolt ,
-
also make sure you suck any oil or water out of the head bolt holes as you cant compress water, also make sure you can wind one in by hand before it bottoms out on bolt hole,

alloy is fine ,its designed for lightness and strength, steel is out dated and heavy ,unless your running over 500rwhp ,she will be fine

How does changing rods length give you more ci ? Or is this just something you would just bluff your mate's with ?
no bluffing ,I worked in an engine shop for yrs ,this was a combination that's been used for yrs ,measure the height with a 302 rod on a 51 crank ,then we used a short skirt racing piston with the gudeon moved closer to the top of the piston ,hey I only fitted what the boss told me ,always was told 383 ,
