My XF has a mix of TRW and Roadsafe and the XD has TRW. The upper balljoints in the XF need replacing and they are Roadsafe ones, going to fit TRW balljoints. My mate brandon's step father Gary bought Wasp parts for brandons mums HZ Holden ute.

By the sounds of it they have mushroom faces on them, if you force them out you will damage the lifter bores. Proburbly the best way to rmove them is to leave them in there stuck position and carefully remove them from the bottom with the camshaft removed.

Unbolt the front bar with its mounts from the chassis rail, 4 bolts all up, 2 each side. I've found that sometimes there can be 3 each side.
Just be careful when you put them back in otherwise you'll cross thread them.

.......Adelaide will do that to ya.
Yeah true, well i adjusted them and they seem to be fine now apart from the bad exhaust leak, someone forgot to put the last bolt in for the exhaust manifold at somestage.

Backing plates will be different and the handbrake cable too, not sure on disc size though. Far as i know it should all bolt straight up......

There are actually spacers that go on the falcons door panels from factory that sit out and move the speaker away from the window when inside the door, were an optional extra on GLi's.
GLi speakers are in the dash.
I have a set here in the spare outback ute, should be easy to find at the wreckers.
Those spacers you made look quite neat mate, the factory ones are not carpeted.
Jack.
Picked up a pair eariler this week, they came out of an XG S Pac
Here is how i squeezed mine in.
2 pieces of mdf stuck together, 1 had the cutout for the 5x7 driver and the other was cut into a square. then used a sander to round the edges so it matched the door trim and covered in some carpet.
the 5x7 shape allows a slightly larger driver while clearing the window winder. These type-r's have a huge ass on them too and this clears the window well.
I like your work Q, very nice Might do that sorta thing with the XD.

just adjuster nut on the top of the rocker hat half a turn of preload
Half a turn past zero lash on other words? Feeler gauges required like with roller rockers?
-
I thought they all had hydraulic lifters. If she's rattling, the lifter is fooked, or the pushrod is bent.
Its rattly after he took it to Adelaide, engine doesnt missfire or anything.
-
Hey fella's
A mate of mine has an XB with the 250 log motor and needs to adjust the rockers, whats the correct clearance to set them at? Also do need to bleed down the lifters or are they a solid type of cam instead of hydraulic?
Its the original engine so no flashy "go fast bits" etc.
I've never played around with the eariler sixes so i thought i better ask first.

I've got mechanical gauges in my BnS basher. I used copper line for the oil pressure gauge instead of the nylond shit that comes with the gauge. I had a mechanical water temp gauge but it fucked up so i threw it in the bin.
Heres my setup
Started with 3 gauges under the dash
Now back down to 2 gauges, relocated the UHF too
The tacho partly covers the speedo
Copper oil line FTMFW!!

Hey fellas,
As the title saids i want to install speakers in the doors of my BnS basher, i was given these door cards 3 or 4 years ago.
Any suggestions for mounting the speaker?

Mark, perhaps some right angle iron in 2 small 60mm (6cm long) length's zapped to the bar instead, that way
you can access the bolt from the light, get a spanner on it to tighten and what not.
If you stood up the iron on its edge facing the front you could master it like that and once all wired back up
some white paint and presto
Didnt think of that Steve, cheers mate!! Even some 30x30 will work. People told me to drill and bolt though the rollbar but i didnt want to crush the tubing, if i was going to do that i'll machine up some crush tubes/sleeves in a lathe, drill the holes and bolt the light in place.
-
By adjusting them at the base?
The base bolts to the sqaure tubing and the light bolts to the base, i aimed the spotties by eye, really i cant weld the tubing to the rollbar.
-
Theres a down side to welding that square tubing to the rollbar, how am i supposed to aim the spot lights to the middle of the road instead of being all over the place lol
-
Glad you got them workin mate, just disappointed mine were so crap. How did you go with the height rule?
Height rule? What height rule?

Well i fitted a 35 amp fuse and they work!! Fuck me they are great, just need to aim them along with the ones on the bullbar.
Outback Jack reacted to this -
I bought a pack of 35 and 50 amp fuses, i've used 4mm wire but i may need to rewire them again.
-
The spotties on the rollbar have there own relay but very much wired up the same as the ones on the bullbar.
-
Yep, they are 100w spotties, i'll double check what fuse the spotties on the bullbar take.
-
I have a feeling that they are 100w lights, i'll grab some 30 amp fuses tomorrow

Thought i'd bring this thread back from the dead.
The 600 Holley is in desperate need of an overhaull, i've noticed that theres a Quickfuel gasket kit as well as the Genuine Holley kit.
What brand of gasket kit should i get? Of course i wanna re-kit it myself
