Where is this cold air coming from?
XTREME KARTS XF replied to Ando81's topic in Interior and Car Audio
Yep, it'll be a broken recirculation flap lever, pretty sure that Deathtrap (my XF BnS basher) has a broken flap lever -

Barn doors have there own lock and key. Spare wheel lock is the door lock so it uses the door/ignition key. XG uses the E series style key. But the mechanism that bolts to the spare wheel door i would think that'll be the same from XA-XG. -

XH uses a winch to hold the spare tyre in place, XG spare wheel door lock is like the XA-XF, just a door lock, cant remember if its a left or right hand one?? -
Any reason why the water pump castings are different? The top pic is the engine out of the wagon and the bottom pic is the engine thats going into the XD. I will be replacing the water pump on the good engine but i dont understand why the casting are differ and the alternator bracket wont bolt up.

Cast or Alloy water pump?
-
Interested to know more
-
I second that cav, the pump thats on the good motor is getting thrown in the bin anyway, i'll take the one off the motor that was in the wagon, looks to be the original Ford one i reakon.

The cast boss trev, i guess it was added for strength?? For a water pump for a standed engine, Alloy or Cast Iron? Any problems with belts lining up?
-
Mcfly94 used the StreetFire in his old XF, i would go with the street fire for a stock engine. If you want to chase power and torque go with the 6AL2. The 6AL2 is better in alot of ways but for cost wise i'll go with the StreetFire. Thats my opinion, others may very.

2 nuts at the top that bolt the column to the pedal box, 7 screws at the fire wall holding the toe plate seal in place and 2 bolts that bolt the column to the steering box.

Sounds like things went well for you Justin. Did you use coolant or straight water when you filled the radiator back up? Glycol can ruin a new head gasket from what i've been told so i always use straight water for 500 km's then dump it and fill with the green stuff!!

Those EGR pipes are cunts to do, if you've got a blow torch or an oxy set, heat the bastard up then try and crack it with a spanner. If to no avail use other means necssary

How to check a diff's condition?
XTREME KARTS XF replied to Mr Polson's topic in Transmission and Differential
Are you swapping the centres over or the entire diff assembly? The way i tested the LSD centre in the XD diff i've got in the XF was have one side jacked up and try to spin the wheel, i couldnt move it so its good. Another way to test the LSD centre is a road test. -
VPW are a distributor for comp cams http://www.vpw.com.au/
-
Correct, they are hydraulic lifters so zero lash.
-
With the right tools its not too difficult, take the head off and get it machined. And it pays to send off the converter while your at it too!! You'll need a good quailty 1/2 drive Torque Wrench, with the rocker gear just torque them to spec. The lifters will be clacky on startup but they'll shut up once bled up.

18 tooth brown cog i think?

Rear sway bar for leaf sprung falcons
XTREME KARTS XF replied to Panko's topic in Steering, Suspension and Brakes
It'll bolt up to the diff no worries but it'll be too short, i've got an XD sedan one sitting in the shed that came our of chaises green XD when i bought the diff off of him. Your more than welcome to take it. -
Major brake problems
XTREME KARTS XF replied to XTREME KARTS XF's topic in Steering, Suspension and Brakes
LOL dave, i drove to essendon on thursday night and the pedal was fine, friday morning and it was fucked. I check tightened the banjo bolt and YES i REPLACED the coppper washers with NEW ONES. I've always been chasing myself lately with the brakes, never really had an issue with coco tins. -
Hey fella's, I've got MAJOR brake issues with my XF, i changed the booster as the original one was rooted so i fitted an XG one and the pedal feel was a little better, so i chnaged the front pads, rubber hoses, copper washers, greased up the slides, bled the system and took it for a spin and the pedal almost hits the floor!! So i changed the rear pads, got the pistons back into the calipers (XD calipers they are) bled the brakes again and its still the same. I tried fitting the new rubber hoses i bought but they are the wrong fittings. Though i should point out that the original booster was rooted for a long time and the pedal went worse when i fitted the disc brake diff.
