Pretty sure he means inches...

Hi all, I would like to setup some XB GT 12 slotter style centre caps (skull caps) like the first image below, but with a black base and a Ford crest centre like in the second image. What is the best way to do this? Does the centre piece on XF onwards skull caps come off? If so, what is their inside diameter at the base? .
-
Yeah, the XB cap option looked easy, but they'd end up as the world's most expensive hub caps. I think I can leave the end on the XF style caps with a stick on 3D Ford Crest logo. Otherwise I might just clean up the hubs and get over it.
-
I thought they were. Thanks.
-
No. Hook it up to a programmable MSD 6AL2 and then you can have any curve you like and to suit any cam.
-
Tell that to people running old windsor heads... Charles Taylor told everyone in the 60s that exhaust doesn't matter all that much and that if it flows 60% of the intake it is pretty much enough. But, more exhaust doesn't hurt. Yours is a serious looking head and it will be a beast.
-
Great comparison in that second picture. What are the flow figures for it now?
-
Maybe measure again. Unless it has had a fair wack tacken off of the gasket surface, it will be more than 45cc.
-
Haha. I would prefer to question nothing (so long as there is nothing dishonest happening) and just acknowledge that they are fast.
-
It is a light, and why would you care? It should be light. It is a race car. Obviously, it helps it be fast. It is still fast. Do people get pissy with racers calling their car a full weight street car when they are running race full and the car is clearly not roadworthy (legally)?
-
Is this car on the net somewhere?
-
Irrespective of what it weighs, it is fast. Good to see another fast 250.
-
I doubt it, but yeah a straighter port must be of benifit. Do you have examples of the Cleveland heads that have been chopped to achieve this?
-
Sounds like he also wanted your rockers and springs. Mind you, if it had a stock cam, I tend to agree with what he said. It must not have been std. Hurricane do make decent extractors too.
-
I agree with what Greg has said, but I also say do it. And the argument for getting this rather than paying someone to tune a carb is the same as having programmable ignition rather than getting a re-graphed dizzy (i.e. you change something and you don't need to pay again). It also means you don't need to take it somewhere and talk to someone, haha. That last vid it goes pretty lean on transition though.

How much boost can these things handle?

I was thinking more like this (although the runners are long): http://www.myrideisme.com/Blog/cam-design-guide-for-weber-carbs/weber_intake/ What you have done, certainly looks the part though.

AU/BA front end into XD/XE

xFalcon thread "BA AU Upgraded XE THE BOSS" I think KLR250 was using BA stuff in the front of his XF too? -
I am sure it could be, but as you say, a custom manifold would be required. I would probably have one fab'ed up rather than using the banana manifold. A nice row of carbs sticking through the bonnet would look cool if nothing else.
-
Downdaughts would be cool, no tower clearance issues then.
-
Points aren't so bad (don't die without warning at least) especially it hooked up to an MSD box.

PRO250 has done such a kit it, PM him (and he will tell you to turbo it ). Here is another example: https://www.streetmachine.com.au/features/1608/blown-1963-ford-xl-falcon-ute-readers-car-of-the-week

Could probably start by looking at the 4.0L kits that are available: http://legacy.vortechsuperchargers.com/page.php?id=764

And about 40 posts and 10 days and no contribution from you in your own thread? The superchargers got a good run and some good examples have been shown. I agree with Sly on the blow thru centrifugal setup if top end it the aim. They are smaller (easier to package) and can go blow thru LPG easily. Cost is still high. I was going to use a Rotrex on mine, but ended up turbo (haha). If you want to go roots or twin screw style, I would look at PRO250s supercharged XF thread (it might have been on the other forum). I also like this, still not sold on using this type of blower in a blow thru configuration though:
