Cute,That aint low, Do a UCA drop and lower it another inch at the front, Then your balljoint will have a bad time =Phttp://i346.photobucket.com/albums/p425/crazy2287/Blue Betty/IMGP1687_zps4dc3419c.jpghttp://i346.photobucket.com/albums/p425/crazy2287/Blue Betty/Pretty betty/DSCF0341edit_zpsd8d0cdd5.jpgBut then, As posted in a pic a couple of pages ago, the balljoints can take a fair hiding hammering into the edges of the cup of the balljoint without snapping. Not that i'd like to test it.
That all depends on brand of ballpoint too, as seen in the ball joint thread there's a big difference in range of movement between brands

Got a link for these wedges?Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

What part number are the springs?
Amazing how it doesn't even look low, in the side on pics - even with no bumpstop clearance.
3 bolt ball joint wedge kits, are available from the USA.
They are kffl-59's

Lol!You might as well take the springs back for a refund, they will be next to useless when it settles Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
At least they won't sag.... Nah, il modify the bump stop to give me back some travel.
Valvebouncer reacted to this -
Il treat this as a before pic...[/url]And after....
It's just on it haha, by the times the springs settle it will be hard on the bump stops.

Bloody hell! That's what I'd imagine the clearance would be like in the old jim hunter suspension off road racing ute!!Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
How mint does the bump stop look, doesn't look like it's ever had to do its job lol

I put a straight edge on it, it's not that shaped. Seems to curve away just near the edges. 'Should' be ok lol.

Depending on cars running a 100 cell cat can bring up fault codes, on a xg I dare say you would have zero issues.

If you have the means to put the flange on the edge this would be great. Will give a flatter result at the end. Be aware there is quite a bit of shaping in that area, not just a flat bit of steel. Check the pics in my shop thread of when I made the filler for the green van. I tried to show how much curve is in them.
Il check that out, but I always get sidetracked in your thread haha. So much interesting stuff.

All good info guys, thanks.
I not seeing any negatives in doing it this yet, think I'm convinced.

I thought it was just a trim level between gl and Fairmont?

i like the idea..
surprised there's not a full panel in fibreglass or plastic like the holden Gemini panel van came with(converted wagon)
That would be way too convenient haha

I've been mulling over ditching the side windows in my van, but the whole idea of finding someone to weld up the holes and having the van out of action for a while does not interest me at all.
The other day on bookface i saw a pic of a white van where the owner had just cut out some stainless the right shape and screwed it in place.
I'm not a fan of exposed screws, but I was thinking of maybe the new bonding agents they stick modern cars together with.
What would be the pros and cons of going this way?
To be honest I'm only seeing pro's at the moment.
Easy to diy
No warped panels from welding
No paint damage, would just need the new panel painted
About 11ty times cheaper than paying it to be welded, filled and painted
What am I missing?

Last one of those xh fill panels I bidded on on eBay got to $75 before I bailed.

The led ones just aren't quite the right shape or size I reckon, definitely priced right though.
I bought a pair of 100w halogens from autobarn for my xf, they're still close enough to the right size and shape, I not gonna put too much effort into lighting until I decide what front end I'm sticking with.

My xf has the turning circle to rival a oil tanker...

That will be a killer ride.
I've always like, the big boxy kit that was popular on mk2's back in the day, zakspeed maybe? That with the rs2000 nosecone is damn near small car perfection in my eyes.

i have 2 16inch ford steel 6-1/2 standard rims au onwards offset, could i run them on the back off my xg ute,the offset isnt that bad,or maybe a very small 8mm spacer or something ?
You can, it will just look odd.

Yep,,boxcar seats should bolt straight in.

Bloody legend...On eBay at an exchange basis http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/360169060716Pretty sure Repco could also do an exchange one, my store were able to do one for a P/S box.
Considering the only one I've been offered the dude wanted $150 and it came out of wreck years ago and is in unknown condition I reckon that reman' one looks like a bargain.

It had the control arms fitted today, obviously wheel alignment is well out. It's booked into fulcrum tomorrow night for them to try and get the alignment as good as possible and give me a heads up on what's going on.
-
Firstly, have you tried adjusting it? Nut and screw on top, tightens them up a bit.Don't tighten it too much or the wheel won't return to centre itself. They should be the same XD-XF, some earlier ones had a different ratio too.
Yeah the mechanic tried tightening it, it apparently improved it a bit but still not great.

Two of the ones in the link I posted are three hole ones, they just all use the same generic 4 hole pic.
Do the tubular arms correct the ballpoint angle?
