You can use a generic oil cooler, plenty have done it with the zf with zero issues. The zf sensitivity is a bit over stated imo.
Or the v8 still use the cooler in the radiator,,so maybe that could be fitted to a six? No idea how different the fittings are.
Pretty sure in the 'milkshake' thread on aff there is a few members that have used different coolers to that per setup quite successfully.
At $700 for the pwr setup, plus the service cost as well its not really cheap insurance. Zf's are cheap these days, granted not as cheap as btrs but not the 3-4K for a wrecker unit like they were.

Dunno if it's the wheels but that looks really high to me, like 4wd spec almost.

Flat spotted tyres from sitting maybe?

Awesome, I was hoping someone would have a pic of them on an old school car, they look all right.
-
I've used them they are pretty decent in the dry and ok in the wet they wouldn't be a bad Tire for a warm crossy
My crossy will never wear them out lol

I think Bridgestone did a run of S340 Eagers recently in some 14' sizes.
They're a nice looking tyre too.
Yeah it was just one size. 245/50x14 they're roughly $220-240 depending on seller.
-
So has anyone used this brand before?
I need new tyres for my dragways and there isn't exactly a whole lot of choice out there.
Can get 245/50x14s for roughly $165 ea and 265/50x15s for about $200 on eBay, even with white writing. (Although boring looking writing)

$625 is a very interesting price, lowered kings are about the same price aren't they?
Il be following their progress with interest.

If they're LHD then I'd say no, everything would be mirror-reverse, ie pitman arm would kink in the opposite direction, mounting bolt flanges machined on the opposite side, etc.
That was the good thing about RHD conversions with Stangs, they used Falcon bits.
Duh. I never even thought about lhd. Yeah, they will be a no go.

If it were me, I'd try and buy the whole Panelvan.
An April 99 XH panno, is the cream of the crop IMO.
Factory Hybrid OHC, Central Locking, Tubliner, Silver Sunraysia wheels.
As new as you'll ever get, in a Falcon panelvan.
Yep, I wish I had found one or a nice xg before I got my Xf.

So does anyone know if these boxes are the same as mustang ones?
Was on eBay the other night and I found a few places that sell brand new (not recon') 16:1 boxes for about half the price of a recon unit here.
-
no, the XF steering box has a bing "sneeze factor" right in the middle and it's way over assisted
I have no idea what you mean by 'sneeze factor' lol, as for over assisted this thread is about manual steering boxes, not power steer.
-
xe and xd are better than xf
pitman arm is 50% of the play
Xe and xd what are better than xf? If steering box aren't they all the same?
Aaaand, now have a recon unit in my pano, what a difference! Still need to get wheel alignment done but it actually points where I aim it now, and doesn't wander half a lane on the motorway anymore.
Just gotta drop the rear down,,roll, the guards and get wheel alignment done and thats the suspension done for a while.
Interior next.

yeah ok good info, where does the spacer need to go ,rear or front, cheers.
I haven't had to do it, but I think it's the rear mounts, closest to the trans tunnel.

Ultimas are fine for the price, the ones In my van are copies of ultimas I think lol. And they're fine considering they cost like 1/5 of bilsteins or similar, you get what you pay for.

Yeah, I still have a few sets left. I've just been really lazy about advertising them.
I'm keen for a set.
-
And I'm not sure, but I don't think they will bolt into your xg. From memory one mount will need spacers.
-
Mines been fine since I butchered my bump stops. Still bottoms out on big hits, but 95% of the time it rides good.
-
What a score!
It's survivors like this that I reckon will skyrocket in prices over the 5-6 years, people are really getting to the old school stuff again, and they're just getting harder to find in good nick.
How about that leg room in the back...

I bought a xd manual box from a wreckers in redcliffe few months back.. $150 i think it was..
All bolted up fine ... easy as to change over, unless you have extractors where they shouldnt be and had to pull the spline from the coloumn down but thats because it was powersteer before.
Engine conversion is still a way off so no extractors in the way just yet lol.
judgetread reacted to this -
So this has become an issue, so much freeplay it's become too dangerous to drive.
Sooo, if I somehow find a 16:1 box do they bolt straight in?
And, anyone got one lol

You can see the difference in the two pics, but I would have thought that much difference would do pretty horrible things to the way it drives?
