Ahh nevermind I see what's happening. This is configured just as I thought, these are floating pins. They are just VERY seized on which probably goes some way to explaining my brake issues.

I've run heat wrap, that photo was just from dry fitting. But thanks for the advice, it's always welcome

I bought this panel for my XF, the fit seems perfect. Should this be bolted in (with sealant / panelbond) or welded? If welded, should I stitch weld the whole panel, or just plug weld the holes? The above photo was very helpful for me in getting my T5 conversion done, my firewall was already flogged out. I made this bracket from 3mm plate and some round stock. Hope this helps someone. The bolt holes were just placed according to where there were already holes in the firewall. Here's the state of the firewall: And my bracket:

Previous owner has cut an excessively large hole in my transmission tunnel and I have struggled to fabricate a piece I'm happy with. I need to get it sealed up around my new T5. It definitely doesn't need to be original - I'll make some phone calls to local panel guys!

Oh that would be perfect, but I'm in NZ and I he won't ship internationally. But thanks for the info, it's something I can keep an eye out for locally.
