    Cam retainer 351c

Thanks mate, great info i really appreciate it. The timing set ive got is a rollmaster double, with the multi keyway crank sprocket. It does have a shim supplied, checked it last night. Trust me, im hangin to get the block back. The last update from the machine shop was that it was still about a month off and that was a week or so ago. Still needs to have decking completed and rear main ground to suit the single piece seal. Feels like forever, but hey whats another few weeks in the grand scheme of things. The box goes in next monday for a check over and shift kit install. This weekend I'll finish cutting back the new paint on the rear quarters where those little rust spots were and then im back to waiting. Thanks again, and beleive me you guy will be the first to know when the clevo is back and being put together! Sent from my SM-N975F using Tapatalk

All of the other parts have arrived!!. Carby and shiftkit are the only 2 big expenses left now(other than machining work on the block).

If you wouldn't mind that would be awesome thanks!

Yeah right - so i guess as long as the plate itself is the same physical thickness(taking into account the offset behind it to fit the bearing component etc) it would be a direct replacement with just the added benefit of less friction. I would have thought looking at things like K-kits etc that if it was a requirement, that they'd be included in that, but i can't find any details to state that. Almost like its an optional extra. Maybe i'm just being paranoid...

Morning All, Just thought of something while mentally building a motor - the cam thrust plate on a std Clevo obviously wasn't for a roller style cam, so i pose the question to you all that have done this conversion before - did you use the standard retainer, or did you upgrade to the needle bearing style? Thanks in advance. Pete

    Flex Plate Q'

Hey all, thanks for the responses. Actually did some research into this, but have been a tad tied up with kids and family stuff over the xmas break to update. What I found is, that yes indeed the bellhousings are different. If you are looking at the bellhousing from the flex plate's perspective, there is a sort of triangle casting that protrudes on the top left hand side. The larger triangle is for the 157 tooth, smaller for the 164 (came across this - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aN836E79rP8) My flex plate is of the 164 tooth variety, so will just need to keep that in mind when inspecting C4's. Not alot around at the moment that is for sure!

    Flex Plate Q'

Hey Guys, I'm sure someone out there knows the answer to this one. I need to source a flex plate suitable for a C4 to back the clevo build. Can anyone tell me please, if the standard is the 164 or 157 tooth count? Thank you in advance! Pete

    XE Dash Options

Sorry for the delay in replying. Appreciate the offer, but i'm nowhere near that point as yet!! The springs that are in it, according to the part number are the V8 variant. It does sit a little high currently, so once the clevo goes in, i'll have a look at the ride height and go from there. A nice lowered stance will be nice, but not super low - i'm gettin' too old for that now haha

    XE Dash Options

Thanks mate, definitely food for thought, and yeah i've considered the change of sender in the tank to suit an aftermarket style gauge. With regards to the steering mods, can you let me know which components need changing there please? I was of the impression that so long as the suspension and brakes matched that, or were an improvement over factory fitted V8's it was good to go? Front suspension is already running V8 springs(according to the part number anyway). Bushings throughout have been replaced by previous owner. Front tires are 235 and rears are 255's which I assume far surpass the original footprint of even the factory 8's. Appreciate your input, if you can let me know about steering mods, that'd be great please. Cheers

    XE Dash Options

Hey All, So the instrument cluster in the project XE is of the econo gauge type which i'm not too keen on. As i've already got SAAS Oil Pressure/Volts/Water Temp external guages mounted, i'm considering 2 options as far as the actual internal cluster goes. The first is - try and hunt down an original Tach style dash and just swap them over or, the second is, remove the existing econo gauge and speedo from my existing cluster and replace with aftermarket style guages like this - what are you thoughts? My concern with option 2 is the speedo and getting it to work with a C4. I'm happy to put in the effort required to make it work obviously but not even sure where to start. Let me know what you guys think. Cheers
