from memory the key didn't operate all 4 doors, only the locking buttons did(i had a few XD and ZK fairlane and XE ghias way back) i would assume to make them work off a remote they have at minumum put a generic "master" locking solenoid in place of the ford one(or attatched to it?) i'd be asking what they actually did... i don't recall them having a relay (never had issued at least) i'd assume they probably would make the volt gauge move as it's very sensitive, same for the interior light for that matter

like My mates 2004 volvo XC70 . transmission stuffed $4000 min.. he's in Tassie though.. so no one can do it = garden ornament still on finance (Low Klms though... remind you of any XGs)

meaning of car life right there
-
great ocean road in the rain you'll see rocks falling with those signs(they were putting netting up in October), so it might be a thing of the past there now
-
that wheel is looking really good, i think you'll be happy with the 13s but keeping the 15s for later is a good idea(i've seen the BMW interceptor style alloys polished on a commodore before, wonder what polished ones look like on the esky)

how do the "bearing buddys" work , seen some with hoses on the bearing caps like diff breathers,(so hot bearings from the drive dont suck in water when they hit the cold water suddenly.. guy i worked with had a "routine" he used to do when he arrived at the boat ramp.. involved fucking around long enough to let the bearings cool down

XE front and taill lights can fit an XF pretty easy.. low km new suspension, rising values of even boring XFs lately would have me keeping it (paint and rust can be fixed..ring a local panel beating tafe and see if they will take it on as a project.. used to be one My brothers mate had 3 or 4 cars repaired with, the panel beaters charged ONE SLAB(beer) to prep it.. and 2 pack oven baked paint was $1000(about 20yrs ago) prices might be 4times that now, but they came out as new.. no one will want to work on the mustang either.. same reasons.. too hard, too obscure, can't get parts.. you'll get the same answers i bet
-
sounds interesting, no one will want to work on it still.. learn how to do that yourself(i wouldn't want some noob mechanic charging $100hr to google whatever issue or setting isn't in the falcadore magnatron book of settings. ) if a crossflow bolts in, i'd be happy with that, because it would look correct but wrong at the same time (go an efi one on aftermarket or e series ecu perhaps) sounds interesting, greens tuff paint job to get peoples attention, inline 6 so they don't want to steal it

the snowies are clear coated, unless you've stripped them. i wondered about clear coating after polishing because i don't want the upkeep of regular polishing.. but how durable is it
-
you can see they are going to be pretty amazing when done judging by that
-
can you take some close up before and after pics, (i wont be trying to get out every dent or scratch) but wouldn't mind doing similar on the bathurst globes. then again, i'd probably want to polish the stainless and paint everything better if i did the wheels only
-
take a trip to SA and leave them with @hendrixhc he likes polishing alloy. wonder what they'd look like fully polished with no black outs etc.
-
be looking like this in no time...
-
any of the tyres usable? they look FAT, are they 205s or bigger
-
did the gasket kit suit several year models? XD to XF ? if so you'd think they'd include the other size rear seal also
-
well, in most XF and XEs i have had, the water got pushed out of the radiator into the tank, and didn't get sucked back in due to other leaks elsewhere(easier to suck air from a leaking head gasket perhaps?) when its hot, it should show higher.. is my understanding
-
when is the test for the recovery system
-
there must be, because XD had a dished wheel, and XE and XF/XG were flat wheel.. you notice this when sticking an XE wheel on XD and it nearly touches the blinker stalk
-
efi rocker cover gasket?
-
wonder what there thinking was? need a v8 for towing.. need to be able to stop... going fast in a v8.. need to be able to stop... can afford a v8.. can afford to upgrade brakes = more money for ford
-
EB handbrake cable is a direct fit on XE and XF with EB diff. sedan for sedan and wagon for wagon and ute/van. pretty sure i've seen V8 XDs with drums on rear, but the engineer i spoke to years ago wanted them..
-
if you end up fitting it .. swap the speedo gear off the senders(or swap sender unit as they will be same type) (XE XD are different pulse rate)
-
some things needed to fit it.. EB sedan tailshaft and hand brake cable, XF bushes in the front half of the NC lower control arms(or NC bushes in rear of XF arms) and a metric brake hose adapter
-
actually the diff from the NC will fit an XF with minor mods, so that would fix some issues
-
no idea what a boss block is.. but, you'd be able to rego the 94 fairlane engine in an XF providing you did everything the engineer wanted .. these would be i guess.. rear disc brakes, cat in the exhaust(might be able to use the NC fairlane exhaust with some mods) you'd need to use the full emissions of the fairlane, so ecu, maf sensor etc. once rego'd you could mod it, but it wouldn't be legal anymore probably.. you could ask the engineer what can be done to make it legal(with enough money, anything is possible)
