isn't the IAC the thing that sets idle speed?
-
i think Mr POLSON has the book @Mr Polson
-
is this the same? https://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/geelong/wheels-tyres-rims/ford-escort-cortina-13x6-dished-steel-rim/1184066965 or these? https://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/gumeracha/wheels-tyres-rims/early-falcon-steel-rims-13-x-6-114-pcd/1166217529

are you sure someone in oz cant fit 13" bands to the 12" centers? for a similar effect(if not even same )
-
i don't even run that garbage(91) in the lawnmower, why would you tune for 95? is there no 98 in the area?
-
what petrol is in it? i haven't had EFI XFs, but carby ones wouldn't crank over when the ignition was advanced enough to ping on 98 fuel(i haven't had one ping on 98 fuel that could crank over fine)
-
out of interest, i'll ask him next time i see him

from the dealing with the carby/dyno guy yesterday, and him expaining how 4 barrels don't work well on 6cyls until high in the revs(because the runners are so long between firing order, (1,5,3,6,2,4) so after fueling cyl 1, the fuel mix isn't as vapourised as well by the time its next turn on number 5 is.. that was his reasoning.. so in that case i'd want injectors into the ports. they'd have to be better suited to big cams with low vac.. he did also say he would fit a 2 barrel to a 6cyl for same reason(keep the air speed faster.. what i should have asked, is if it would be beneficial to have say a 4 barrel manifold with 2 barrel carb for more plenumn volume? would need testing to know. but, he is a carb expert, and ended up going LPG on his Leyland V8 because the manifold didn't keep the fuel mix vapourised well enough(custom, 4 barrel maniflold no coolant through it)

900kg and 115kw it's reasonably peppy and I get 5.5l per 100ks out of it run them at Calder.. then we'll know for sure .. as for getting 5.5litres per 100ks.. that's something to envy. (better than My diesel gemini and probably goes up the big hills on the Calder Highway better by far too)
-
hard line is cheaper.. .. probably about same actually, $20 ish i'd guess for the short pipe $35 for the hose.. you would budget to do them all if so
-
i've had this a few times now as i've had 30 odd year old cars now quite often.. the hose ruptures internally
-
did you watch the latest video on the Gordon Murray escort?
-
i only like half the above message.. the part where you mention self inflicted reliability issues.. after reading a post from Thom driving a suzuki swift 2006, 1000km a week and 100,000+km in 2 years doing routine maintenance only.. makes us all wonder sometimes. as for working on newish cars... nope..bad enough changing headlight globes on them..
-
every car i've ever had leaked oil, even the full reco leaked after a few months.. depends on the severity on whether i fix it..wipe it.. doesn't drip while i am watching it.. = passes rwc and drag strip.. good to go
-
that said.. the XD ghia/ZJ fairlane probably XC and prior same.. they wind in the same way(2 pins instead of keyway thing) and those pad's aren't "located" (they have a spring clip that clips to the piston though i think) so maybe it will be totally fine
-
to position the brake inner pad with the piston you can rotate the piston into the "correct position" so it lines up
-
that "protrusion" on the inner pad is there to locate the piston for the handbrake not to twist the piston with it when it rotates.. you may find that causes an issue? i'd also pull the bleed nipple out, i usually run a bit of wire or drill bit through and blow through them.. or swap with a known unblocked one. with the bleed screw removed it MUST flow fluid,if not it has to be a stuffed or kinked pipe or hose.

good news on the diff urgency maybe(need to test it ?) next Calder street meet is 11 May 2018.. then 3rd JUNE (sunday funday) this books out fast, need to be there early.. i'm not sure i'll be ready for Friday next week.. but would like to go then if so.
-
Bugger, by the time it's ready, My wagon should be.. we can go to Calder and see which diff blows up first?
-
yep,priorities.. budgets and time.. pretty much why most peoples projects take forever to evolve.. at least you are out driving it still, too many get put away for when the timing is perfect.. often never is perfect..
-
i used the carby lines for a lexus V8 into falcon.. that said, they are said to only make 140rwkw ish..
-
hopefully not too painful, they can go really well when good.. a manual efi falcon was quite quick for back in the day.
-
hopefully the current mechanic isn't going to charge excess cost for unfixed/undiagnosed issues.. but you've probably learned all you need to know by this "lesson" either way.
-
i'll give you the spiel the carby shop bloke gave to Me to justify twin webers.. just spend it and be in love with the car, you won't care about fuel economy when it is an absolute pleasure to drive..it will be transformed .. (can be done for $2000 CHEAP!)(cheap in the scheme of things.. it's like 2 rego's with insurance etc.. )

while you were under there, did you not rock the wheels back and forth? and the tailshaft to see if the back lash is worse?
