    Xf A/C COMPRESSOR

it should work without the vacuum canister(if plugged off not to leak) will just affect air vents to go to screen when going up a hill possibly? take a pic of what lines you have, they don't need much, green goes to heater tap, black goes to manifold vacuum, orange i never figured out but @Panko has an EFI XF that might be able to help

as for mechanical pump, you can still run an older case and run an electric pump. the serpentine belt wrap is the reason for the reverse rotation ? (betting a normal pump wont fit) what makes you think someone with an older car would want a windsor over a clevo?

    crossflow porting results

hey, just had a thought.. does the flow bench test with BOOST change the way the porting is done? or is flow same as flow regardless of NA or boost pressure? eg, going for the highest numbers without hitting water... or hitting water.. weld and repeat

    Xf A/C COMPRESSOR

there's a pressure switch, it's up in one of the pipes with the sight glass from memory near the firewall. if there is no gas in the system(because the compressor leaks, or condensor leaks, or evaporator leaks, or the shraeder valve like a tyre has leaks or a hose is split or o ring.. etc.. ) if there is no gas, it won't engage. the compressors are meant to have some oil in them, but the gas is also a lubricant in later gases i think. get it checked by an air con mob, most will put a small amount of gas in and check for leaks either with a dye or sniffer or both. if you can see obvious oil stains on the condensor in front of radiator it's likely it has a hole in it (also) i thought you must have had the compressor tested to want another, get it checked by an air con mob. just be prepared, a lot will want to change TX valve regardless, same for receiver dryer if it's been disconnected especially(while engine removed etc) some may want every o ring changed, because the new gas eats the old ones(some mobs will just gas it and say, see how it goes... one of mine with old o rings lasted years and i sold the car still with working air con.. )

    Xf A/C COMPRESSOR

you used to be able to buy rebuild kits for them, they seem to be the most common compressor to be stuffed. (out of 10 XFs i had, only one had working air con compressor and that's likely because the guy i bought it off would have paid $700 if need be to fix it) there's a universal sandon one that would fit in the spot(would need hoses re made) and be much better.. depends how original you want it.. finding one used, XF falcon, fairmont etc, Fairlane ZL, and FE LTD are all the same, but fair chance they'll need rebuilding also i've never rebuilt one, i did fit an XE one to one of My XFs once with one of the hoses being remade(the rubber part changed where they crack anyway near the exhaust) and cant remember if the other hose was possible to use a combination of XE and XF pipes or if i had that one made also. ($150 in hoses, $100 regas etc)

    EA MANIFOLD 87DA

the 3.9 also had that setup, i wrecked an EA once with it.. surprisingly went well. i was wondering what would be involved in bolting one on a gemini.. i saw a budget build ups article where they adapted one onto a 202 holden using some other ecu like a delco from astra or later commodore.. it made more power than the holley 350 from memory. i'm sure you could stick it on an AU engine even with a carby bolted on and as long as the ignition is sorted it would be an easy way to make one run(all My fords have been on lpg, so a gas mixer would be simpler)

    Crunching

its done under the car, manual gearboxes don't have coolers or dipsticks. i haven't read this but it looks like it covers it pretty well from the photos. https://www.mustangevolution.com/mustang-articles/how-to-change-your-manual-transmission-fluid/

    Crunching

what oil is in the gearbox? it takes transmission fluid, not gearbox oil. if you can select reverse easy when stopped, then i don't think it's clutch related. i would change the oil, transmission fluid most take, but look it up to be sure.

    Xf/fe 2.5 tail pipe

@Mr Polson may know of a decent exhaust mob over there, while i was in Tassie i didn't need any mechanical work at all that i didn't do Myself(7 months based in Cressy)

    Xf/fe 2.5 tail pipe

it's not rocket science to make one, on the mainland it would be probably $150 fitted for a custom one

    Xf/fe 2.5 tail pipe

XE is same if that helps for XF(FALCON) .. FE is longer wheel base, you'd need a ZK ZL fairlane one or FD FE LTD redback even had 3" available back in the day..(for falcon) i'd guess any exhaust shop could get one in

    Additional Gauges Thread

if you are mounting them on the outside, beware the bonnet doesn't hit them, and try make the bracket off the underside of the bonnet if on bonnet or wiper vent(don't butcher the paint) usually oil, and fuel are only done outside, because you aren't meant to have fluid type gauges inside the car.

    Additional Gauges Thread

i've always gone with the stock sports dash clusters because not a racecar. the XF i had was different though, because the s pack cluster were very prone to issues (bad solder joints and tarnish on connections) i ended up adapting an XG cluster to mine, definitely wasn't easy to do. yeah, what do you want to do? and what car? do you like the A pillar guages? and the monster tacho on the column covering the fuel or temp guage? (first thing i'd remove if i got a car like that) ripping the ash tray out of the console and fitting 3 guages there is neat, volts guage i particularly use.. if it's always on 13 ish(less with lights on etc) and suddenly its down to 12 or less you look at the temp guage and open the bonnet see if the belt is still connected etc. other guages i like are oil pressure (because the oil pressure switch for the standard light has fucked up twice, leaks huge amounts of oil out, could kill an engine... and light didn't come on) if you have plenty of money the AFR gauge is handy to see if the engine is running lean or rich.. (can do this on a dyno for cheaper probably and car will be tuned to its potential)

    Brake booster VH356

if no one has the answer, i would say i assume so.. as in, it will probably bolt up and the push rod should work*because i've used XB pedal box in XE before. as for the master cyl, i expect brake lines will be in a different spot, may have different threads?

that inside of the big end of the bottom right rod looks terrible doesn't it. is that just the shit casting finish? almost looks like the bearing shell had been spinning inside it

    XF FALCON EFI ROLLA ROCKERS

i think if you had EFI and needed to space the rocker cover, then the efi gear won't fit back on(the standard bananas type) so beware of that.
