yeah that's getting up there. @Thom might know if there's any demand for one,. be better than a 144 or something in an XK or similar and seeing it's reasonable fresh it might have some value
-
yeah be just worn, OR wrong oil, or maybe needs new oil the ute diff if standard will be 25 spline and the NC diff 28 spline axles drum backing plate has a different orientation on the bolt up pattern(have seen this welded and redrilled on the alloy backing plate for caliper mount. wagon LSD is rare EAEB ED EF EL(ef el brakes are a bit harder to make the hand brake work from memory and the brake lines) XG and XH ute diffs in LSD are more common and probably your best chance of finding one ready to just bolt in. your engineer will want discs on rear most likely. diffs with lsd and discs used to be easy to find in many ratios.. the newest one that will bolt straight in is 25yrs old nearly (XH )

most fairlanes have LSD, disc conversion to drum diff isn't easy
-
i am fairly sure the Fairlane tailshaft is the right length also but it's probably got the same end on it as your ute one (1991?) so you could use either depending on condition . hand brake cable to be used also. to suit the rear discs

if you don't want to even buy perches it's been done like this(flat plate welded across cut off mounts with locating hole in the middle)
-
is that possibly a crack in the exhaust valve?
-
this is better in my opinion rear muffler replaced with a hot dog
-
so you want it to sound awful like this?
-
you've linked a crossflow engine, they just sound better.. here's the one i had in an XF wagon stock everything. (carby engine on LPG)
-
i reckon you'll have to wait until you hear one that sounds like what you like and ask them. or spend a while on youtube searching Barra exhaust or BA exhaust, BF exhaust etc would you want to spend $1000 on exhaust that could be spent on things to make your goal closer (tools like tester, things to sell for profit, etc)
-
best way to sound awesome like a VT V8 is sell the ford and buy one. best sounding BA 6s i've heard have been stock, because they sound awful with a loud exhaust, I'm another fan of keeping a ghia completely original. you don't want it looking or sounding like a P plater car.. unless you are looking to make bogan friends or police attention.. save your money for more important things the sohc 4.0 from EA to AU sound better especially with a different cam.

yeah same for me(sparkydave's post) with the door mechanism, i submerged mine in petrol and swished all the dusty oil out of them and sprayed them with oil.. like new in the mech. the actual locks the keys go into, not sure what you can to other than graphite them and hope it makes a difference. mate of mine reckons the new aftemarket locks are FINE but all the same code, (he bought a set for an XG and EF and they share the same key ) so might pay to put a kill switch on something just to be sure if so. could have just fluked a matching set but that's what he got.

i was thinking same, then thought.. how many kms is someone going to do in a 460 these days? be $40 per 100km to drive it probably
-
My Dad was telling Me about 30yrs ago of taking the 144-250 log head and milling off the inlet log and making a better manifold(he was half considering doing it for My brothers XB engine that he bought a "Yella Terra" head from swap meet for(just bigger valves, probably throat porting but still had the full log. be interesting to mount an XF style plenum on to one with banana type runners etc.
-
they need the shock towers notched from memory
-
i would assume so, think it would have the "hand built" signature on the intake depends on price and condition naturally but the AU had the better heads and intake i thought. someone like @Thom might be helpful on this topic
-
can you mix and match heads ? like would it go on a 200 or bigger for eg, to make a high comp engine or are the ports/valves smaller on them also.

looks prime for some 4.9 stickers and registering in an XE lol

BA/BF Front Brake Calipers into XF
deankxf replied to motoSycho's topic in Steering, Suspension and Brakes
i'd check if Hoppers Stoppers or CRS use the BA caliper. i think UPC used the VT caliper that i fitted to the XG i had once, then had bias issues (would lock the front too easily) if so you'd need to address that(can't see a listing for them anymore on ebay) -
this one's been for sale for a while.. https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/1016931539169676/
