    crossflow porting results

My car will be ready after May 2018 mate. I'll drag the trailer to wherever. Actually Willowbank in th cold of winter would be nice. Be a bit different from racing where the air is 3000 above sea level.

    crossflow porting results

You never know, once the car runs the numbers I might post a pic of the port. Hell with all this interest and conjecture I might even post a picture of the chamber and the port window. I could always stick some cotton wool or something in the runner to not give away whats going on in there and show the 'port window's. Maybe that might be the go.

    crossflow porting results

I will also say that none of these figures mean a great deal until I can get my car up and running and prove what can be achieved with THORS current head and then the next generation head. Unfortunately work has been busy for me but I will be out in the car next year and we will see if all this flow equates to a decent number and a reliable engine and fun times with mates. Cause that's what it's all about really. Achieving success on the flow bench is one thing, we need to carry this over to the track. In the mean time the tst head will go back for some tweaking to see if we can improve the slight losses in low to mid lift. They are still reasonable, but I believe we can do better.

Sorry Matt. Not giving away anything.

I'll never stop developing. Car will be done by the time the new season starts. Fun times ahead.

Without a doubt, it is a game changer.

    crossflow porting results

Just to clarify, the above porting results were from 2 of the 3 runners we have done on the test head. We now have 3 seperate ports and chambers on that head. Basically absolute stock port window, small increase window and medium increase window. Below are the figures for the stock port window which I didn't post last night. crossflow porting results

Funny you should ask that Dave. I'm going to head back to the bench and flow the second runner in on the above photo of the prodigal. It has an absolute stock size port window and was created for the speedway guys and guys running four barrels. Ill let you know what it flows with the speedway 'visually standard' intake manifold. In the mean time I'll post up below its figures without manifold.

    crossflow porting results

Yep, except with air speed. Through continuous development and thought we have managed to create a port that flows massive cfm without having a massive hole. Anyone can make a big hole that will flow good numbers BUT it will occur at big lift points and at the sacrifice of air speed. For reference look at all the 4v heads fitted with intake inserts to get some air speed back. I'd love to be able to show just how small the port is on the high flowing head, but I can't for fear of others copying it. Rest assured there is actually more in that port. I spoke with Cam last night about it and he is keen as to go further. Never stop developing.

Forgot to add that these head was flowed without manifold. Just a bellmouth on the end of the port.

    crossflow porting results

I'll just leave these here. To say I'm happy tonight is an understatement. To see years of port development result in this leaves me very happy. Don't forget to add 10cfm to these figures due to Anthony's bench running below a superflow bench. Even without that the numbers are truly impressive and particularly as it's made thru a near stock port window and the lift points it makes peak flow. I've said it before and I'll say it again, the smallest port doing the biggest job. Is there anymore in the ports? Yes there is. Are Cam and I finished? Hell no!!!! The biggest flow number was attained thru a slightly larger port opening. It's suffering in the mid lift but I'm confident I know why and we will improve that. The other port is the original port with a few more tweaks. It's only very slightly over stock port window. It's flowing a real 270cfm at .700" lift. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

    Mains and Headbolts

I use 302 w main stud kits with my stud girdles and I bought the head studs individually from summit when the dollar was good. I'll have the individual part number somewhere. But to be honest with the dollar being not so good, it would be cheaper and easier to buy the lot from Performance Wholesale.

    84DA CROSSFLOW BUILD

The later Utes used the pedal with the in built throttle stop, a good thing by the way. They also located the cable on the end of the bracket, rather than the firewall. This is also a good thing as it leads to better cable routing. The side benefit of the use of the xg/xh cable is also a win.

There are definitely gains to be had from turning the carb east west and to answer your question, you can use the std 6 cylinder cable when you convert to east west.

    XE EFI Upgrade

Yep. That's the one. It is very expandable and easily fine tuned. I'd choose it over this system.

    XE EFI Upgrade

Sure did. The new Holley system is the one to get in my opinion. Better self learning and easy laptop fine tuning. This MSD system took some sorting and it's now sweet but it would have been easier with the new Holley set up. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

    Electric fuel pump plumbing

Depends on what pump you have and what fittings are required. Best to PM me with the details of your pump. Photos help.

    Electric fuel pump plumbing

I source them through Alan. They have an NPT thread in the body but we usually convert this over with an npt to AN fitting for ease of fitment. Obviously I'm not going to give away details of what brand or size as I sell these as part of my income.

    Is the crossflow dead???

Well many have said that the crossflows days are done. Well I say nope. Why? Because the weekend just gone, 68 modified productions took to Lismore Speedway to battle for the Australian Modified sedan title for 2015-16. Everything from BA/FG Falcons to latest model v something alloy tec Commodores. Throw in a couple of old Cortys, xf's and VL Commodores as well. And the fastest car and highest point scorer from the heats was a big xf falcon with solid roller cam crossflow goodness. Yep good old crossflow power sitting there on pole at the national title. And we would have had Australia 1 if it were it not for a deflating RR tyre!!!!! But all was not lost as a Ford still won, all be it a BA. The good old crossflow grunted on for very commendable 3rd. If your on Facebook get onto Ash Media and watch the final laps. Watch Gavin in his all conquering crossflow powered XF giving it to the late models. Its pretty damn impressive effort. Yes Gavin can wheel but it still takes serious mumbo to stay competitive against the late model cars. Long live the Crossflow !!

Camtech also recommend similar HOT settings for their camshafts. Recently did a solid roller LS1 and no way was I setting it to their recommendations. When it got temp in it you could hear the slap on the tighter setting.

    84DA CROSSFLOW BUILD

Agreed. Those settings are way loose. Sprintcar in Cairns run zero lash. There is a reason for that. Pure and simply, heat and its effect on alloy. We set our tappers at 8&10 in mod sedans and never have an issue. Have done it for years. You can even go tighter if you want but for a street car 8&10 or 10&12 will be fine. Cold.

Yep studs with a 12 point nut or socket head cap screws. The runner casting gets in the way of that bolt and it's worse the further you step the manifold off the head. You can safely grind away a bit of material and fit a normal bolt head, but who doesn't like socket head caps screws or studs with 12 point nuts. Only one bolt sexier than a socket head cap screw and that's a button head cap screw. Oh they just do it for me those button heads. Yes I know I'm weird.

You might find it hard to close the bonnet with the breather at the front.
