  1. Nolathene will last 3 times longer, but gives a harsher ride. Standard (neoprene) rubbers are a lot more compliant. For everyday use I'd say go standard, but, if you corner on rails............Nolathene. Unfortunately, the double wishbone suspension chews up rubbers, mainly due to the wonderful conditions of our roads.

     

    Dont get me started. :angry:


  2. It really is a budget thing. I've run both, but, prefer PULP. Build the engine for the fuel you will run. You have stated that the engines dont run perfectly on dual fuel, which is true. Buy the cam, o/haul the heads, compression ratio etc for LPG, and it will run close to your 400 flywheel ponies. Gas Research Aust (I think?) had good systems for straight gas, but there are a couple of ways to go.

     

    Had my XB ute 351 on gas for 2 years, running twin converters, and 100 litre tank. Regraphed dizzy and had a heap of fun.............

     

    There used to be a gang in Adelaide (Competition Automotive, if I remember right) ran an XA ute, bright orange paint and a 460 on LPG at the drags.

    Sounded friggin awesome !!!!


  3. 99% of balancers are made in 2 pieces, with a rubber bonded between them. The years, oil drips, etc etc weakens the rubber, and the inner will spin on the outer bit. This will throw the timing marks out. Trust the TDC, both valves shut on No.1.


  4. After a heated and well researched experiment, the Choppers forum I'm on, has concluded, the very best, numero uno, ultimate, most fantasmagorical rusty bolt removing fluid is................

     

    50/50 ATF/Acetone.  Haven't tried it, but, there ya go. For future reference. :)

     

    Any updates, Dizzy ? Is it salvagable?  << Is that a real word?


  5. It's probly an earth leak. The loom sits on metal, all its life, and slowly vibrates until one strand of copper touches, and bingo!

     

    Chased similar prob in my FC LTD, turned out to be where the loom goes over rear wheel arch under back seat. Couldnt see it, but, after I rewound the cables with ins tape, problem went away.


  6. Note : Dont use Silastic to fix the windscreen. It contains Acetic acid, which will cause "fog" on the glass. Use the corrct Black Mastic stuff, should stay tacky for about 125 years.........and cannot be removed from the skin. :D  :D :D  


  7. Agree with deankdx, flick gas/petrol to "neutral" and try cranking the engine til it 'kicks'. Then flick back to Gas. Had this help me in the past.

    Also, a GOOD ignition system is imperative for LPG. 9 mm spiral bound leads, good cap/rotor and coil. Plugs generally one range hotter and gap closed down 0.1 may help.


  8. Nope, the cops dont get too picky with panels, XC front on XB etc, but, engines and suspension, they're real hot on.

    Can get defected here for not having tyre placard in door jamb, windscreen squirters not working or non standard engine bits. Holleys/Air Horns/ Harnesses and such.

     

    You know,...the stuff that makes your car SAFER !  Racing seats, Harnesses, bigger brakes, low profile tyres...........

     

    But, Granny Ethel can drive her 180B down the road with the front guard flaping in the breeze, and rust holes in the boot, so big, you can see the back seat. But at least it's standard.
