  1. Good advice ^^^. Try to find a springworks type of business. Half the price of Pedders etc.
  2. .............the only GOOD part on an Explorer.

Original engine in car, on trailer. Get country cops to verify its existence, then stuff in mighty 351, and do engine swap paperwork.

Yeah, Ronny. As I said, done it twice. Just be patient and don't try to do all the changes at once. Changed my XB ute from 200 to 351, and an XD 250Xflow to 351. No Regency. Vehicle details MUST match what Rego has on file, or no good. Original engine/chassis number/rego plate.....

Yeah, thicker spring rod. I think it's 18mm dia, and 6 cyl is 16mm. Not sure, but, just go the local parts shop and buy Kings or Pedders. Used to sell King Springs, and they are 15% firmer than standard, out the box. Just get the height you want. Low/Superlow/ STD etc... Brake rotors are same for all. Shocks are your choice. Although if you get low, low springs, get shorter shocks. Done this twice. The rest is fuel line, engine mounts, wiring etc.

Yep, sure does. As they came out the factory with them, its just a piece of paperwork, and bingo! regoed as a V8. Springs

Here's what I do in SA. Transfer rego with original papers, 6 cylinder, or whatever. The enigne number/chassis numbers MUST match what the rego division has on their computer. Otherwise its Regency Pk. Trailer the vehicle out of town, say, visit your 'mate' in Pt Pirie, and get the local cops to verify the numbers and fill out the form. (think it's an MR27 and about $50). They check for stolen/warrants etc.........All cleared, you can now rego it for 3 months. Wait a month and go in to Rego and fill out an engine swap form. Just paperwork. Gawler is now classed as "Metro" so, all vehicles taken to the constabulary here, must go thru Regency.
  10. Yeah, I was thinking that. The threaded bit looks solid, and the straight bar looks hollow, squashed, and welded to the ball joint. Tube is cheaper than round bar.
  11. I'm still trying to work out why its hollow..???

Yeah, me too. Still got the old steel knuckle cutter on my 351. (with shroud).

I think EL fans aren't wired together from the factory. One is for rad cooling, the other is activated when the A/C is turned on. I think ?? Don't need any fans when youre moving.

    Motor oil

If it's done a million miles, then a thicker oil would be better. 40W-70 or similar.

Help me work this out please.

Agreed. 12 hour charge for a flat battery. If the Alt light is coming on, sounds like your brushes are worn down, in the regulator.

    column auto conversion

Dont know if the column will fit, for sure, but the wheel base is the same with much the same gear in XD/E/F's. Reckon if ya swap all the powersteering hoses and brackets, ya should be right. Never heard of anyone actually trying to convert to column shift.......... Check the fluid in the tranny, first. If it's brown, ditch it. If it smells burnt, ditch it. Dont know if there is any way to 'check' the trans without running it.? Any auto trans gurus on site?

    Exhaust Manifold bolts

Auto shops usually sell the bolts behind the counter as "extractor bolts". Spring washer will lose all its tension with the heating/cooling cycles of the engine. Don't reckon they ran them from the factory. Mind you, Clevo's never came out with an exhaust manifold gasket, just metal to metal, so I could be wrong. Also, I drink a lot...........

Which vehicle is it in? Clevos run slightly hotter in XD shape bodies, from my experience. Check bottom hose for collapse when revving. Check ignition timing. Must run a thermostat, and the brass orifice plate under that. Fan shroud is a must too. Whack on a set of EL or AU thermo fans, 14" does sound a little small, as the boys have said. Let us know how ya get on. Silly question.........the electric pump is running ?

LPG woes - 250 xflow carb

Yup, could be. Could be many things, unfortunately. May be a vaccuum leak, 6 cyl manifolds are prone to warp. Air getting in between mixer ring and carby? Low coolant level, does the mixer have frost on it? Got good earth connections on the switch and solenoids? I know this doesn't help. (Petrol will always idle faster than LPG)

    Tips using regular household products

Yeah, OMO or Napisan is awesome hand cleaner. Loosen rusted bolts with 50/50 Acetone and Tranny fluid. (both available at supermarkets).
  24. Agreed. +1. Adjust, or ebay. Common problem.
