Cool stuff. Never had an issue with rod bolts, either. As you've said, it's not a drag car, just a daily. Keep us posted with all the goodies, including the chrome rocker cover wing nuts..............Bwah ha ha ha ha...

    Broken vacuum tree removal

"Probably" a brass thread - BSP (BritishStandardPipe), but can't be sure. Best get your replacement, first. Then check the thread on that. Depending on the year, model etc....FoMoCo changed to Metric, gradually, but I reckon they get these bits from the Yanks.

Ok, I've looked and looked, even with a torch, can't see it anywhere. Left hand side has Alternator, right has power steer pump. Any hints>???

I think Aussie Desert is now owned by an overseas company, not sure.

    Cleveland Machining

Cool. Just that there is a tolerance on everything. A 30 thou bore (+/- 2 or 3), a piston is machined (+/- ) EG: smallest piston in largest bore = sloppy. Maybe I'm just OCD.

Cigarette lighter and a can of Aerostart. Plastic just melts away.

    Cleveland Machining

Buy pistons first, get the bores machined to fit them. 0.030" isn't always 0.030". After machining, clean, clean and then clean again. Rags, Prepsol, carby cleaner, pipe cleaners, bottle brushes, and about 3 hours of your life.............

    what is log?

Like Sparky Dave said, Inline 6 with inlet and head cast together. ( a "log" next to the head). That is my understanding, anyways.

    Rocker cover hoses

Absolutely correct.....(fookin' work, still in my head). Thanks BigCav.

    Rocker cover hoses

I honestly can't remember the hoses from my old X-flow, 'cos I threw it in the rubbish bin, when I stuck the Clevo in, but, in general terms.......... PCV - Pressure control valve - When oil/fuel are warmed up, they expand. This valve allows the pressure out. If you block all the outlets, your rocker cover will explode. (not really) So the car guys, put a hose to the base of the carby, to draw these gases out and reburn them. The carbon cannister collects fuel/oil vapour, allows it to condensate, and again, get reburnt. All part of the Emission standards game. Hoses should be oil resisitant type, otherwise they go all gooey and soft. Can use heater hose in a pinch, but, change it every year. If Mr Plod is clued up, he will notice the hoses missing and possibly give you a free trip to the nearest vehicle inspection centre. Do not pass GO, spend $200. Will your car run better or worse without them, no. Will it make more pollution, yes.

Where is this cold air coming from?

Not much can be done if the door is rusted, like Monsieur Polson said, dash out........ Could block the vent, somehow in winter? Scrunch up some newspaper, plastic bag with a rubber band, doohickey with a thingamajig on the side. Wonder if you you could adapt a vent from an XB? They have a separate cable each side.

After Tips On Preventing Belts Turning / Flying Off
