Valve lash adjustment for prexflow/log motor
bear351c replied to XTREME KARTS XF's topic in Pre-Crossflow
I thought they all had hydraulic lifters. If she's rattling, the lifter is fooked, or the pushrod is bent. -
Cheers for that.

Dunno about all states in Oz, but, (in SA - the Granny state) fuel pressure has to be mounted OUTSIDE the cabin. In case they leak and spray fuel all over the passenger while they're having a scoob.....Usually get mounted on the cowl in front of the driver.

It's hit and miss, these days. You will have to get the block tested/x-rayed/Magna fluxed or whatever, before you get 500 hp. Otherwise you could be wasting time and effort. Coreshift was a big problem in Clevo blocks, but it was the 1970's after all. !!! Blue collar workers in a foundry, pulling minimum wage............ I'd prolly get one from an engine builder, let them do all the work. I believe Arrow started making Clevo blocks again. http://www.horsepowermonster.com/2013/the-worlds-first-aftermarket-cleveland-block/

Buy an inner tube...........

The red threadlock should do the trick. Can't recall the number (272 or something.) Bolts must be clean, and oil free, same with threaded holes. Do 'em up to correct tension in stages with a good torque wrench.

Yep, what he said. ^ ^ ^

Awesome XCsedan.! Photo with/without, and a link to a newie. That's gold.

Yes. You must run a thermostat, and the brass restrictor plate (under that). Coolant runs too fast through the radiator, and doesn't have time to cool down. The thermostat isn't there for the heater, it's to warm up the block to operating temperature. Opposite to that is running too cold, makes the oil sludgy. Ignition timing may be the issue, as pro250 stated.

Yup. As with anything, age is the killer. In a perfect world, they would last forever, but, with the constant heat/cool cycle of an engine bay, not using them for 6 months, etc etc......the oil goes off, seals become hard and brittle, not many of us (me included) give the aircon the respect it deserves. Not much worse than getting in your car on a 40* day, and it's 55*C inside, with no A/C. Maybe I'm just getting old. Window motors are plentyful at wreckers or evilbay. Not hard to fix.
-
Yeah, agreed. If it hasn't been run for a year, it's a $1,000. Reco compressor, new drier, TX valve blah, blah, ........ Cheapest way out, is to find a car with a running (and cold) air con system and swap it over. It's not hard, and everything just bolts in where the old stuff was. Then, have it regassed. How come the rear windows don't work? Are the motors working, just not driving?

Nothing to do with your clunk, but you could try checking your stall speed by left foot braking at standstill, slowly depress accelerator and look at rev counter. BW35 at the drags..!! Not sure the Datsun 200B gearbox was meant for that. Let us know how ya get on.

Seem to remember choke had a big arse pressed steel nut/washer thingo on the back.?? Maybe.....

Thanks Farkin, will look into that.

Hi all, Got some B45's in the shed, offset is shallow to suit EF/EL ? Falcon, would like to change offset to suit deep dish on an XA Sedan. Anyone wearing these, who could measure back space/offset for me? Need to troll around the auction sites for the correct offset for 16" rims. Any ideas on max width tyre/rim combo?
-
I was wondering that, too. Radio holds the original in with skinny nuts behind the knobs........ Hmmm.....skinny nuts behind the knob. that sounds a bit suss. Sorry dudes.
-
Yep, good stuff Mr McQueen. Did the same in my FC. Had a Gas tank in the boot, had to lift the 6x9's by 30mm. So, you've made 4 or 5 of these, how much for a black one.???

Ashtray 'plate' is a great place for 2 or 3 Autometer gauges............
-
Yeah, hadn't thought of that. Thanks.
-
Not sure on the pricing, but for me, I'd keep the 31 spline for strength, and change the axles.
-
ewwww..........2 much info

Gerg gives good LOG.
-
Oooooh yeah............don't foget photos.! Love your XB.

Wasn't pushing mate, haven't even got the XA rego'ed yet>!! No rush at all. Yeah, tyres may be an issue, which is why I'm looking at rims/tyres/sizes now. Just happened to have the B45's, and love the deep dish look (as on your XE). Want to start looking around, for correct offsets, whether I should sell the Simmons and buy whole different set, all that sort of stuff.
