  1. OK I've finished for today so tomorrow I will 1 turn the engine by hand till it gets to the top of its stroke & blows out a puff of air.

     

    2 line up the pointer to no.1 on the balancer

     

    3 take dizzy out & turn it to no.1 then put it back in. So it should be at 1 on balancer and 1 on dizzy then hopefully she should start again is this correct?


  2. So I've flattened 2 batteries now. I have 1 left in the zl. Should I turn the engine by hand to no.0 or 1 on balancer then pull the dizzy out & turn it to no. 1 on the dizzy then put it back in?


  3. Thanks mate yeah I got my brother to put his finger over the hole till u get the big puff. So after u get the big puff keep turning till the pointer on the block lines up with no. 1 on balancer then hopefully she should start.

Hi guys decided to change the vac advance unit on the dizzy on my 302 marked the dizzy where the rotor was pointing (at no. 6) changed the vac advance unit and put the dizzy in but to get it back in the the button was just a bit left of the mark. Now it won't start it almost feels like it will but wont. I turned the motor by hand and lined up the timing marks on engine and pointer on the block but still nothing. Any suggestions? I heard about taking out no. 1 spark plug & turning until u hear a hiss but can someone elaborate on this?.


  5. i had a problem with the left rear door handle on my ltd after buying and putting in a brand new one it just wouldnt open from the outside so i stuffed around and changed and modified the i think its the snippet rod still no change then i thought huh must be the door handle itself so i put the old one back in and it worked so i had to take the new one back and replace it with one that did work. so it was a dud i wonder how many other people have had this problem. this might be the problem in your situation mate.


  6. Have u tried putting upward pressure on the bolt with the socket and and ratchet to prevent the clip from spinning? also try to get the bolt on a certain angle with your socket to kind of lock in the broken clip while u undo the bolt or a thin chisel & hammer and break the bolt head off.

Hi all i noticed the other day that when i have either the left or right indicator on when im at the lights with the brake on the indicator clicks really quickly & the light also blinks really quick but it doesnt do it if my foot isnt on the brake. My first thought was maybe it needs a new flasher anybody else had this issue? This is the Zl btw.

Got it done, i was able to lever one part of the the flange out enough to get one of the nut & bolt on & did it up a little bit then was able to squeeze the coupler & flange together enough to get the second nut & bolt on & start tightening them up nothing was gentle about the whole process. Now just need to put the steering linkage back on the pitman arm & im done.


  9. Just finished removing the whole PS sysrem now im about to put in the new well second hand new manual steering box but the steering column is a bit short can i lever it or smack it out abit or do i need a steering column out of a non PS car?

We've all done dumb shit like that, i remember back in 2004 i bought an xf GL from a car yard $400 it had the métal venetian on the inside, cruising in Melton with mates and what did i do pulled over to the side of the road & pulled it off the back window & threw it on the side of the road. Hindsight is a wonderful thing.
