Crossy build- am I on the right track

Hey Guys Well I have the engine out and ready to build a mild EFI crossflow for a bit of a fun/track car. I’d love some advice on the plan to tweak it before I pull the trigger, what I’m thinking is: - Port and Polish on Head - Zero deck the block - Strip and rebuild, will be around 40thou oversized I reckon Piston wise - Crow 14892 Mild Hydraulic Cam - Stronger Valve Springs - Megasquirt ECU to control both fuel and spark What do we reckon? Will make some good HP? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Crossy build- am I on the right track

Update to progress So with Christmas, Holidays and all, I have managed a little bit of time on the old XF. I have managed to: - install the 1/2 cage - install the second (passenger) seat - rebuilt the rear brakes - installed a new rear handbrake cable (this was missing entirely) - changed the rear trailing arm and Watts Link bushings for Nolethane (they were stuffed) - changed the Swaybar links and bushings, am going to run the factory swaybar for now! - removed the tow bar from the rear bumper (cut out the actual towbar) - rewired the engine bay to a distribution block for positive and negative and; - have just relocated the battery tray to the boot (where the spare wheel used to sit). Am getting there! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Crossy build- am I on the right track

Hey all After some advice. I’ve started putting together a little more on the Falcon. I’ve come up against a choice. EGT Valve. It’s already been eliminated, so I’ve just put a blanking plate on it. The Mega squirt ecu eliminates all the Emission controls so I don’t need all of those. So, guru’s. My questions: What vacuum connections do I actually need? What do I do with the PVC valve (which is broken and I can’t seem to find a new one) And advice would be appreciated. Megasquirt into XF EFI

Hi All, I have a question regarding an XF EFI which I’m installing a Megasquirt ECU into. It’s been surprisingly easy (which some help from the vendor, but I have a couple questions I’m hoping you good peeps can help with. 1. There’s a MAF Sensor in the kit but no cable for it and no reference on the wiring diagrams supplied. Do I need a MAF? 2. The pair to the Crank Position Sensor. Well I don’t believe there is a Crank Position Sensor on an XF. Do I need to use this? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Cheers Steve Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

So have given the mechanical a miss for something more body workish (not a word). Am colour coding the Bumpers and repainting the boot and adding a retro wing! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Crossy build- am I on the right track

Hey guys! Well I’ve been a little busy with my other hobby (growing food) as winter is the time to get out in the garden and set everything up for spring. However I have been able to spend a few hours each weekend on the XF and here’s where we are at. Yup! Back where she belongs! Am going to hook her all up and double check the wiring/sensors to make sure everything is sweet. Can’t wait to fire it up. It’s getting closer! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Injector Options

Hey guys I’m about to finish putting the Crossy together and it would be a shame to do all this work and have dodgy injectors! I am thinking, quite soon, to throw a blower on it as well (prefer a Super Charger). Would you have any recommendations re: Injectors? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Vac Lines and Pollution Control

Hey all! I’m getting ready to put my (rebuilt) Crossy EFI into my XF. I know that they are a bit fussy about Vac lines and the Megasquirt ECU pretty much sidelines all the Pollution control gear. So what do we reckon is the best way to go? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Crossy build- am I on the right track

Hey all! Just a bit of an update the engine is finished!!! Just waiting on the gearbox to be finished so I can put it all in as an assembly. In the mean time I have: - Ordered a Bolt In 1/2 roll cage - fitted some racing seats - ordered 2 x racing harnesses - finished wiring the Megasquirt unit - Fitted the O2 sensor to the extractors - Fitted the Air Temp Sensor to the Plenum chamber This weekend I spent a bit of time reducing weight in the old XF. Basically cutting away the tow bar and some of the surplus steel under the rear bar in particular! So progress is being made!!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Crossy build- am I on the right track

No sorry Dean I didn’t. So progress is slowing a little due to Auto Electrical issues. Unfortunately the issues aren’t of my making, they relate to a prior owner who, well let’s just say, was maybe a little ambitious with joining wires! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

It’s been a while so I thought I would update a bit! So have found that the Heater Core was absolutely rotten, which is why it was leaking water. So whole dash out time to replace that. While it was out I replaced the fan solinoid (as it was only working on one setting) and fixed up a few cracks in the climate control unit. I think I have finished wiring in the Megasquirt with all the factory ECU now disconnected. The only cables which were left were those which controlled the emissions controls which is right (according to the wiring diagram), just need to put in a vacuum line to the MAP sensor built into the Megasquirt. Have found some massively dodgy stuff in the wiring loom too. Have also started removing the black stripes on the side and am going to be painting the bumpers. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Megasquirt into XF EFI

I haven’t found any differences yet, still putting the engine and transmission together! Ha ha But I’ll advise you when I get it all back in. The Megasquirt Unit I Got was from Shiftkits Australia and the service and price was excellent, couldn’t recommend more highly! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Hey all! I’m looking at creating a XF Hill Climb or track day car. What do XF Sedans look like without their rear bumper? Cool or dud? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Blower motor

Hey all Any other quick question regarding the blower motor. Mine only runs at one speed, low. When I pulled the heater core I checked the motor and it seems ok except for the plastic bag in it! Ha ha Anyway, if it works but only on one setting, what should I be replacing? Should I replace the blower too? (Can’t seem to find a replacement on fleabay) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

The shift spool being the ‘round thing’ around the shifter shaft and the guide being the slot on the top cover. Using words I can understand ([emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]) you have to get the round thing on the shifter shaft to sit in the guide on the top cover yes? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Oh totally Now Gurus, I need some help. The shifter seal on the Single Rail is one of the leaks. But how the hell do I change it? I can see the join on the shifter shaft, do I actually split this join to change the seal? How do I do that? Any help would be much appreciated. Any tips on the rear Flexi seal likewise! XF SPack Dash Cluster

Hey guys! Well I have my Dash Cluster out at the moment to repair the Odo gears. Also have the gearbox out too. My question is, the Speedo wasn’t working when I pulled it out. Will replacing the ODO gears fix this or should I throw in a new speedo sensor into the gearbox while it’s out too? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
