Ok then, good vacuum at the modulator?
havent had time to look at it yet that will be the first thing ill check.
-
They're easy lol .. Got reverse?
everything except 3rd
-
Blown piston seal on top gear? Stuck valve in valve body? Autos are never an easy fix so I'd take it to an auto place.
As the saying goes: if the job was easy, there wouldn't be a trade for it.
ill have to call a few places see if they have a rough idea.
-
You're good at breaking stuff haha
Which gear has it lost?
it was cruising not belting up the hill screaming its head off, trans has been iffy since i bought it.
its lost 3rd i had to do 60 all the way home to keep the revs down.
-
today cruising up a hill in my zh it shifted into top gear then free reved now its only a 2sp oil level is fine i may of heard a clunk as it shifted.
anyone have any ideas what it could be?
thanks in advance.
-
it will work just dont do to many 2nd gearies
look for a T56 au v8 box
i thought 3rd gear was the main problem in them?
-
pffft toughen up Brad!
After a 15 hour shift on my feet the walk at 3 am at under 0 degrees is a little more tough. But hey im saving like $2.
if i could walk the distance in a quick time frame i would lol sadly though i expect it taking quite a while
well $2 is $2 lol
-
i walk to work so my petrol is lasting quite a while.
sadly a 50km walk each way isnt ideal
-
Shit thats alot to fill. Do you run it on 98? The ZL cost about 100 but that is at vic prices and for 91.
yeah it is $90 a week gets me to work and back so thats all i put in it
Yeah he does, NOTAV8 is tuned for 98 I believe.
yeah it likes 98 i dont mind goes sweet as is so no point changing it.

60 something L or optional 80/90L long range tank?
Brads Ghia has the long range one, but I don't think he's fully filled it... he stopped once it took $120 worth.
stock size is 68L
i did fill it once it took $160 - $190 to fill i did get close to 800km from the tank that was driving it pretty hard on the cruise.

ended up being a stuffed balancer fitted my spare all good now.
-
Lot of piss-arsing around if it ends up being the gilmer pulley. Why not just mark it and then turn it 180 to see if it's out in the same place. Are you sure there isn't a bit of shit stuck behind it? Not saying it isn't the balancer but it's normally the outer that shifts. The bore would have to be absolutely flogged for the centre to be out of wack, but then the original crank pulley would have been all over the place too.
spose thats easier lol, i made sure there was no crap built up before bolting the pulley on.
-
It usually means the balancer is stuffed.
If it just started now then it must be the gilmer pulley.
Good idea not to run it until fixed, it wont be good for it.
its hard to say if it was like it before as i never took notice untill i put the gilmer on which is when i noticed it lol
im borrowing a pulley puller tomorrow and ill try my spare balancer on it if it still does it then id say its the gilmer drive.
-
Balancer bolt loose???Or worn out balancer....
bolt is tight as buggery, is it possible for them to wobble when there old? a few people i know who have had clevos have never seen it before lol
-
Whats wobbly? The Gilmer drive pulley or the balancer outer?
the balancer, so really the whole things moving about I'm not to keen to drive it till i have it sussed out.
-
recently purchased a zh fairlane with a 351 clevo i recently fitted a gilmer drive I've noticed the harmonic balancer is wobbling, every things bolted up tight and i used loctite on the gilmer pulley bolts.
any ideas on what it could be? the gilmer drive is a pro flow hope there not to shit.
my first step is to try my spare balancer i have in the garage.
any suggestions to get it sorted or similar experiences would be appreciated.
-
fair enough lol i think you will end up liking the manual
-
EF/EL are meant to be the better ones, slightly. I think XF T5s have a different ratio in 5th...
pretty sure the xf and ea box are the same, eb2 onwards are the same but I could be wrong been a while since I read up on it.
why not go a lower diff ratio if you don't like manual? get a 3.08 from a eseries?
