Phenolic manifold heat shield setup? EFI Rocker Cover Q's
XES replied to mcfly94's topic in Crossflow
Proflow stuff is fine. Its distributed by VPW. Speed flow is good to, a little bit more expensive but Australian made. The Fitting into the cover is a -12 weld-on machined down to be a press fit into the hole in the rocker cover. It would be better to get it tig welded in but then it depends on what your cover is like. With Dave's being polished it would ruin it without getting it re-polished.. Press fit and some loctite is all good tho cos your not talking bugger all pressure. -
Phenolic manifold heat shield setup? EFI Rocker Cover Q's

Daves are proflow McFly and he got them from me at Enzed. But any speed shop that sells those type of fittings, like speed flow or earls or aeroflow will be able to hook you up. They're dash 12 fittings and hose. -
Now that's just nasty Rev! Funny butt... lol

I'm fitting a wideband sensor to my carbyed 302 exhaust and wondering peoples opinions on where the port should go. I've heard it should be about 18 inches from the heads in the extractors. What I'm wondering is if I do that I'll be able to read from one side of the motor. But if I fit it in or after the y piece where the two sets extractors come together it might be to far away to give an accurate reading. Also I've been told that turbulence could be an issue in that position too and that they don't like that either.

Its only going to be giving me a reading to tune the Carb better not for data for an ecu.
-
So I could put it down stream of the y where the two extractors come together then and have reading from both sides of the motor then.

Yeah I grabbed one of the proflow ones from work. 18 X 1.5 is the size of it. Has been with every other O2 port ive had anything to do with too, The length seems about right I think. I wish my extractors already had a port. Its going to be a bit fiddly welding it in. Especially cos i'm not a great welder. But I'll have a crack hey!!

Nah Clint, I got a port from work to bang in and fellow member said he'd lend me his if I wanted. So i'll do that whilst saving for my own. Can't quite afford it this week.
-
Cheers for the help guys. I'll bang the port in tomorrow hopefully.

I didn't take any photos but I'll see what I can do on the weekend. I'm planning on doing a bit in there on the weekend.

I bolted the bracket to the inner panel in the cavity and then went through the floor of the box into the floor of the boot and bracket. The put some rubber sheet in the bottom of the box.
-
This is where mine is. Don't mind the messy wiring shit and holes. Needs a big tidy up. I made a bracket to bolt in over the hole.
We've got the gas hose that they use a work Dave. Its the same as the filler hose. I'll check that the price is right that they give you. Which gas place did you go to?
-
Yeah I beefed mine up a bit. Not sure what to tho. I made it out if a couple of ones I had her. The black ring was fatter on one so I used that. Anyone know how to tell what amps you alternator is?
-
Yep I've been running the VPW kit for a bit now and it works fantastic. Recommend it to anyone.

Adjustable lower trailing arms discussion.

You know you'd get a lot of satisfaction out of making them yourself tho Q. Can you make them better than the bought ones tho? Better quality , maybe better adjustment? -
Yeah check my project thread James. I've updated it and its in there.
-
Yeah that's the beauty of this set up. It looks after itself. And it has the override if the probe shits its self.
-
Yeah Dave. 2 wires each with a 25amp fuse.

I put one of these in my xe to run a set of ef thermos yesterday It has variable temp that you can set, controls both of the ef thermos. One fan comes on at one temp and the second comes on 10 degrees hotter. Override is on the AC switch in the car if u want them both running full time. The temp sensor is a probe that goes in the fins on the radiator on the inlet side. I only gave it a quick test yesterday but it seems to work great. It also runs the fans at full speed. Comes with easy to follow instructions. I got it from VPW. Part No. HAY-3654 Cost is $42.40. http://www.vpw.com.au/Category/Index/6198 Now the components probably don't cost shit and if your handy with electronics you could make the same circuit pretty easy. But I liked how easy and compact this was and it suits me fine and it was easy to wire up. And I got trade price

This is true. I bought a double car garage with one door across the front, second hand off eBay just to put my car in. I put pallet racking on one wall and I've got enough room to have both doors open and work around the whole thing. When the missus isn't filling it up with shit.

Good idea gerg. I might pull the tank and have a look anyways. This car got stolen from me once when I was at vicroads getting the suspended rego lifted and when it ran out of fuel they put 10 liters of diesel in it and tried to start it. I've ran plenty of fuel through it since the but it may be worth a look.
-
I was having a bit of a play around under the bonnet today on the clevo and noticed this: The reason I noticed it was that the fuel pump (mechanical Holley) was making a choofing sound I hadn't heard before. I checked the filter and noticed that. If I didn't have a clear filter I wouldn't have noticed. Does this mean the pump might be stuffed?
