Do you actually need the kickdown linkage? Please explain to the uneducated!
sorry to dredge up an old post but..I would be interested in an explanation to this???
I don't have a kickdown on mine and was looking at fitting one.

Yep, that looks like a stocky, Clevo, Automatic, 2V, from an XD.
cheers..will snap it up!

Good pics, thanks for posting them. Be a help to others.
can't say it's a job I would want to do again without taking off the headers or an extra pair of hands!!

Your better off getting a photobucket account, its free, and upload your photos there.
then copy the image code and paste that in your posts.
The pictures will come up full sized then to.
haven't been able to get on with phototbucket for a long time...every file I upload turns out thumbnail size and I am buggered if I know why!!

not sure why I can't upload more than 1 photo at a time and only up to 113k??
maybe because I only have 12 posts?
Can admin help me on this??

OK..so I have managed to pull the steering column shaft down (really easy,just used a crow bar to lever it down..not sure if it should be that easy??) undone the nuts holding the flexible coupling to the column, how do I get it off the spline on the steering box?
Gentle persuasion either side of it or would it be best to just remove the box and do it on a bench?
I don't want to damage the splines on the shaft on the steering box!
-
Whoever did that deserves to have a fucking huge kick up the arse.
I can't believe it has never been picked up on a WOF check (vehicle inspection)!!
So I am going to have to take out the WHOLE steering column to try and bring the end of the shaft closer the shaft from the box or will I be able to 'lever' it out as deankdx says??

Yep, that's a 4V US piece, to suit Holley square bore, not spread bore like a Carter. Numbers give it away.
D0AE means:
D = 1970s
0 = 1970
A = full-size body
E = engine
9425 = manifold part number
The Aussie 4-barrel 2v piece you're looking for will start with 76DA (can't remember the rest) but Aussie parts had a completely different numbering system.
76 = 1976
DA = Design Australia
You got yourself a bargain there, some resto nut will be looking for a factory 4v manifold somewhere out there, and you can sell it on to them.
so what would it be from then?
Fairlane,Falcon,LTD,Maverick,Mustang,Torino??
I am assuming it's from the 351 4V?
-
ok,didn't think it looked right!
only paid $10 for it so no problem if it doesn't suit

Hi all,
can anyone identify what this intake manifold is from?
I was told it came off a 302 Cleveland but am having doubts about that?
It was bought to go onto an XD Fairmont with a 302 and Carter Thermoquad,is it suitable?
Also,can it be used as it is now or will it need refurbishing (I am assuming it will?) to get rid of the surface rust etc..?(I am assuming it will?)
Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated,
cheers,
Liam.

I understand how the kickdown works...just don't understand why you would remove the 'automation' of an automatic gear box! (isn't that what manual gear boxes are for?)
the 'manualisation' of mine by whichever of the previous owners is probably the reason why the gear shifter has more play in it than a porn stars flange!!!
