Can anybody tell me what these come from? They came with a set of ROH 12 slots I bought 5 years ago but can't seem to find anything like them on the internet. I thought I had seen some similar with GT badges in the centre?..I may be totally wrong!
-
I some times look at them and think that they probably have been cut!

Can anybody tell me how much movement there should be on a mechanical fuel pump? The one on my sons 81 xd 4.1 looks like it is the original and I am not sure if it's working properly. The video shows how much movement there is of the 'arm'..just not sure if it should more or if it looks right? cheers.

Fuelmiser is just a box, they don't make anything. They buy other companies parts and put them in a Fuelmiser box, so you could end up with a cheaper no name part, or something made by someone like VDO Do VDO still make them?
-
What are the Fuelmiser pumps like? Does anyone make replacement in tank sender units for the xd?
-
bugger..didn't realise it was set as private! have sorted it now. When I removed it from the car it still had fuel in it and I could pump fuel out of it so assume it is ok?

anybody else having trouble viewing it? I have re-posted and hopefully it works now (works for me by the way)

Hi all, I have changed the aftermarkt electronic distributor on my 1979 xd Fairmont with a Bosch one and am now trying to get the timing/tdc set. There are no marks on the harmonic balancer that I can see so have used the 'thumb over the no.1 spark plug hole' method and have moved the rotor arm around to face the no,1 cylinder (as I thought was correct?) but all it now wants to do is spit flames out of the carb when I try to start it! Having searched on the internet it seems that I am setting the distributor/rotor arm in completely the wrong place and that it should be facing roughly to the firewall or slightly towards no.8 cylinder? HELP!!!!!

seems to be..will see when I get it out on the road!

try this 2018-04-16 17.49.05

Delay in getting this sorted was also due to stripping and repainting the original rocker covers and air cleaner Before: After: And a short video of it running..seems to be running pretty good..no backfires or spluttering..just need to take it for a little spin to see how it goes out on the road. 2018-04-16 17.49.05

I am putting back on to my car the original V8 air cleaner. It is going onto a Holley carb and Weiand intake manifold until I can get the Carter and stock manifold setup on there. Now..where would the breather pipe on the left (drivers side) rocker cover go to? I know the right hand one goes to the filler cap and air cleaner body but not sure on the other one, cheers.
-
I assume that is with the flap closed against the hole?
-
So I can happily run the stock air cleaner including the snorkel without it?
-
Shit..I wish it was!! belongs to this guy http://www.xfalcon.com/forums/index.php?/topic/5616-feb-82-xd-ex-pursuit/

This is the hose I am talking about..so it goes from the left hand rocker cover to the carb? (obviously this is a Carter and not a Holley) I haven't got the PCV valve that fits in the grommit..would this one be suitable? http://www.gtshop.com.au/product/clips--screws--bolts--brackets_25/ford-falcon-pcv-valve-right-angle-suit-xr-xt-xw-xy/?&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&& I also need the vacuum switch(?) that fits between the snorkel and the base of the air cleaner will one from a 6cyl air cleaner be suitable?
-
Actually really pleased how the air cleaner and rocker covers have come up..and all with rattle cans of VHT Argent Silver! I will post some more before and after pic's.

work and other stuff!

Still faffing about with this Which pushrods are you referring to..just the front two?

Ok..managed to get the dizzy spikes lined up and have relocated the plug leads to correspond. Will have to give it a crank over in the morning as the other half is in bed as she works nights and will not be popular if I wake her up!!
-
So this is how I had it set up but, as I say, had to turn the dizzy as far clockwise as I could and vacuum ended up at 7 o'clock ish. If I am understanding you right, I need to lift the dizzy out enough to rotate it (anti-clockwise?) and line the two sets of spiky wheels up then set the new position of the rotor arm to no.1 plug lead and the rest to follow?
-
If I am having to turn the dizzy all as far as is possible clockwise to get it anywhere near running right is the dizzy in the wrong place? To my untrained brain I am thinking it may be a notch out of alignment..if that's correct, which way do I turn one notch, clockwise or anti-clockwise? First pic is of it turned as far as it can go (vacuum at roughly 7 0'clock) and second one is of it with the vacuum pointing to the front (roughly 6 o'clock).

I have a few different ones kicking around spare so will grab some and give them a try. I think one of the starter motor bolts also holds the inspection plate on so might remove that and try it in the holes (ooer!)
