Gaz replied to CHESTNUTXE's topic in Transmission and Differential
Put it in first and turn the input. count the revolutions it takes to turn the the output one turn -
Ill do you a reco 20:1 manual box for a straight swap of your 16P box.
-
Pitman arm and drag link. That is it.

Late XE was the first 4 bolt. Same change date as going to saginaw from CII. Step up to the 4 bolt balancer, they go straight on and the p/s pulley is less of an ass-fuck than the 3 bolt cast version.
-
XT still had the remote booster. XW was the first model with the Master/booster combo.

Trying to identify a M86 ute diff as an LSD or Open Diff
Gaz replied to RAWDEAL's topic in Transmission and Differential
Don't ever rely on the "spins same way/spins opposite way" theory. Some LSD's only work under the right circumstances i.e. traction/power. -
Not that I give a fuck and most people wouldn't either, but the current position of that converter would never pass either a roadworthy or a gas compliance test. Just sayin'.

Small boot will be like a dick in a bucket on an XE console
-
Mark's right. XD has a smaller hole and vinyl boot. XE has the massive hole and big ugly rubber boot.

Manual was an option in XF Ghia.. But anyway I had a look at Panko's thread and he converted to manual on the first page lol.
-
I know it's a Ghia wagon, but I was sure it was a factory manual. I could be wrong. Same pedal box but I've never seen or heard of an XG with factory cruise.
-
I thought Panko's wags was factory manual? XF's never came out with cruise on manual cars. I wouldn't bother with the clutch switch unless the BF set-up demands it. I put XF cruise on my manual XdEE and it was mint but would labour at low revs. Was easier to tap the brakes to disengage cruise and change down a gear, than disengaging manually via the control buttons. Is that what the clutch switch does? Same as brakes, disengages cruise?
-
Pretty sure they all have it, there is just an extra hole that the switch screws into.
-
They just ran dual brake light switches. Wired parallel.

Rally Pack all black from door handles up. Chrome below. GXL series 1 all chrome. GXL update black from door handles up. Chrome below including bonnet . Std. Fairmont never had black. Yours should be black door handles, window frames and fuel cap only. The rest should be chrome.

How many Irishmen does it take to change a light bulb?

Hahahaha! New Zealand, go home, you're pissed!

If the roadworthy tester picks up on it, yes. Which he should, if he values his licence. Also in Vic now, not everyone can roadworthy gas powered vehicles. Testers have to have accreditation to examine cars with gas.

Gonna call you on that Dave. LPG standards ARE applied retropectively. Back in the day you could mount shit anywhere, (ie converters in line with the fan belts) not have electronic cut-offs, and not actually be compliance plated, etc, etc. But, if the car has been sold and had a roadworthy inspection in the last few years, it has to meet the current regs.

Are they vac operated like X-Series? Could be a vac line off.

I just smash 'em out with a copper mallet. Hold the rod in left hand, belt the fucker with my right.

Should have grabbed the vins they came out of. Ford used to decode over the phone for free but I heard they stopped doing it. I had to get the code for a Hyundai once and it cost the customer $50 for a phone call.

Didn't realise there was a difference to tell the truth. I still have no problem with either.
