Very sensible approach here I reckon. Hey, id like a barra turbo into an an X series to but I know id lose my licence with it!
-
Hey sly. Just make sure what ever it is you use will slow down rust. Ive stuck my head under two tub liners, one in a falcon and one in a early hilux and the rust holes were as the water from washing and condensation just never really dried out. The tub liners look awesome but can be scary underneath.

Well there you go, I forgot that somebody might have brought it in from the USA, thanks thom, id hate to give somebody a bum steer.
-
Looks like a goer eh Thom from the pic. To bad if it aint a 351, you put a deposit on it. 351's are over rated anyway. Rip the sump off it and check for the big 351 stamped on the crank. Good excuse to change the gasket and rear main seal anyway.

Yep, all steel. Car still looks like that today, gotta finnish it.

This is mine

I like the effort you went through to repair your parcel tray and more effort to take pics and create a thread. Top stuff. This also works for a piece of MDF to.

Wes, mine was EB Fairmont standard diff into my XF Falcon. I would have thought the XR6 range was the same as EA-EB-ED. Using the diff from ea-eb-ed you keep the same hand brake set up as XF. EF and onwards used the one hand brake cable set up so would require more mods to suit XF. Yeah as I said Ando, its an easy operation don't be intimidated by it. Get the back end of the car high up then just roll the whole lot out from under it in the XF. Ive just looked at mine now and it went...... I used EB top trailing arms into my XF with no bush change. These were in better condition than the XF ones I took out so that why I used them. They are almost identicle to XF and do the exact same job. Bottom trailing arms I used EB with a bush change on one end only. I changed the bush from EB to XF where it bolts up to the car as the EB is more narrow then XF. Kept the EB bush where it bolts up to the diff (no change required there) I used the EB tailshaft, bolt straight in. and I bought the brake line adapter from a member here who works in that field, he also done this conversion. The EB falcon diff has a solid disc brake set up, over the vented ones in XF. No biggie I spose still makes the car stop ok so im all good

Ando, you gota swap bushes around use, half ED and half XF. I did this conversion a few months ago and I had to use xf bushes in the ED trailing arms to go onto the car. You will have to get the old ones pressed out so the new ones can get pressed in. Its easy peasy. Oh and you will have to get a hose conector for the brake line. You can get that from pirtek?

Just go to your nearest clark rubber store and buy a new door rubber, they have universal stuff that is close to factory. Or buy one off ebay, heaps there to.

Mate, big job. If it was mine id leave the vinyl roof. I believe they are glued on all over so peeling it off your only going to find the old glue has stuck to the metal roof so painting will be required again. Unless the roof has rust holes but of cause its up to you. Who else has removed a vinyl roof and found this?

That's abit harsh dude, hope you not implying "im a keyboard warrier"? We did the pre crossy conversion and 4 speed single rail on my sisters XP ute, we didn't have to chop or mod cross members or sumps. Did a pre crossy conversion on a XM convertible with a BW35, again no cross member or sump mods. Pulled the running gear from an XB Falcon for that one, do you think we could put a blade/waterpump fan in there? Nope! We had to use a davies craig fan as there was just no room. Other mods also was gearbox mount and new handbrake position going with bigger donks. Not saying "you no everything" just saing from our experience this is some of the issues we had. We checked out a lot of 250 conversions from other people in the XM/XP owners club and most of them have same probs.

installing electric windows into gl falcon
steve mcqueen replied to jamie247's topic in Interior and Car Audio
OH MY GOD YEAH! Ask me how I know. I was lucky it didn't cut my fingers off, but did take some bark off and bleed, I thought I was gonna die! James is on the money here to anybody doing this, please be bloody careful. -
Cant see why not. I used an XF pedal box in my XD, It has an XG dash, has an EF donk and I used the box and clutch from an EA, All bolted up no probs.
-
Im gonna say its a 221 in the XT. Yeah fitting a 250 into XM requires mods as ando has said. Its a long engine in the XM bay and trying to fit the standard blade/water pump fan is impossible. Thermo fan will be your friend here. Yep skip that 2 speed, id be happy with even a BW35 or better still a BW40 behind it. Castlemaine do a lot of good stuff for early XM/XP falcon, check em out. http://www.rodshop.com.au/index.html

K'archer Wet Sand Blasting: a review (sort of)
steve mcqueen replied to gerg's topic in Body and Exterior
perfect for cleaning wheels, the snowies seem to come up well. Did it only remove the brake dust? How about loose paint? Will it work on a car panel, remove paint bare metal? Something you wouldn't do whilst the panel is still on the car due to the use of water, bare metal and water but say "you had to do a guard" whilst it was off the car? Thanks for sharing your finds. -
What sort of race car is it?
-
Yep. I use an EA clutch cable in my XD with T5 set up, seems to work fine. Also ive never had issues with the clutch pedal set up cracking but have read some others do. (touch wood it stays like that)

They go back in like a sedan back window don't they gaz, with a rope?

The importance of testing your brake fluid
steve mcqueen replied to SPArKy_Dave's topic in Steering, Suspension and Brakes
Yeah I always thought "it recommended to do a complete brake fluid flush every 2 years" just like coolant, its recommended to do it every 2 years as well but really, who does it? Not many people. -
Here's another pic
