    So it's only when going uphill? Will it do it on level ground if you floor it enough for it to drop back to 2nd? Maybe it could be a gearbox (fluid) problem?

    Ah, knew i missed something. Thom is 100% correctomondo! Track width for XW is 1486mm Track width for XD is 1527mm 41mm the difference.

    I think the limited slip disc brake diffs out of Fairmonts and Fairlanes have a 4 pinion centre and 28 spline axles. * Buy the diff with the rear hand brake cable and the rubber 'body to diff' brake hose with it. ** Also make sure it comes with rotors, calipers etc to save any headaches. *** XC onwards also have a larger wheel centre diameter so make sure your wheels have a 70mm centre (standard XW were 60mm) **** Check your diff ratio, you may also need to buy the speedo drive cog to suit for your speedo to read correctly.     Good shit!! This should be good. I don't really (read yes i do) want to be a bad influence on your thought process but.... with the supercharger that side of the engine, the bay looks quite full and looks VERY empty where we're all used to seeing a turbo. Turbos have been done, superchargers have been done, you said you wanted to be different, set the challenge into place early to do both!! Hehe Just add $20,000 to the budget. lol.

    Oh shit, you don't have the yoke? Bugger eh. I had the same problem years ago and ended up paying alot more than i wanted to for one just because it was and FMX yoke and no-one wanted to sell one separate to the box, from memory the tailshaft was a different length too when i went to go to the C10, but don't quote me on that bit, this was a long time ago. Then i had troubles finding a converter for it, then the linkages, cost me a bit. Then my extractors were wrong because the box was wider than the C10s. Ended up ditching it and going for the C10 in the end.

    It is too, anything pre xc then? Pretty sure the larger 70mm centre started on the XC, so previous to that so XW through to XB? I don't think these came out on XR/T, but maybe XW/XY? Not sure.

    Just looks like a standard XD gl Falcon wheel to me mate. Usually silver with four black sections.

    I was just reading up on this and it was saying another bloke that had similar trouble had an auto elec have a look who replaced the fuel pump wire from near the B pillar to the pump and off it went, it was shorting. The reason Ford would say to leave 1/4 tank of fuel at all times in dual fuel vehicles is because the fuel pump continues to run even when it's switched to gas which can overheat and melt the wires. We owned 2 AU falcons for 6 years each, the fuel pump was the only thing that ever died which was only ever once on one of them (although neither were dual fuel)

    I don't think it was a straight swap, from memory an adaptor/spacer had to be made.

    Is the plan to go wider tyres on the ass with custom offset wheels or shorten the diff? I was looking at doing it myself a few months back but to cut it out and widen it, shorten the diff and axles, move the leaf springs (mines XD)then pay for wider wheels, then tyres all seemed to be a very expensive exercise for 1 extra inch. Dunno, i still might at some stage down the track though.

    How much extra space will that give you? (From inner wheelarch to chassis) Barely looks worth the effort in that pic, like... 25mm (1")?
  24. Don't forget the windscreen washer bottle full of oil in the boot with the sprayers drilled into the wheelarches. lol.
