BW40 to C4 Swap

Hi all,

 

At some stage I need to either get my BW40 re-built or swapped out. I have a 250 EFI and to be honest, it’s about as slow off the mark as I can handle .

I have been told that these trans do suck a fair bit of power out of the engine before the rear wheels and I know I can change the diff ratio and other things to improve it, but it’s not a huge problem whilst I am running a cross flow.

My real question is- if I was to swap the BW40 out for a C4 (in preparation for a V8 swap), would it suck even more out of the 250 or would it be much the same? Also, what else would I need to change if I go to a C4?

Hi XES,

 

I don't know about the difference in power consumption of the two boxes, but I know you'll need a new shifter. BW40 shifter linkage is on the driver's side, C4 on the passenger side. Trans cooler lines will be different. Pretty sure you don't have to change the cross-member and tailshaft (keeping the 250).
