Unleaded conversion for a pre-cross flow motor

A mate of mine had a fully worked 186 in his HR holden and he said it used to ping a lot on fuel unless it was 98 octane and I don't want to be added fluids each time I fill up

Unleaded conversion for a pre-cross flow motor

Cool well I will talk to a engine reconditioner about hardened valve seats when I get the cyclinders bored larger as well. Thanks fellas. By the way does anyone know a good engine reconditioner in brisbane? Was just going to jump on yellow pages but had a thought that some might be better then others.
  3. I'm restoring an old '64 falcon that has the original 170 cci motor in it and was wanting to know how to go about converting the old motor to unleaded fuel. I'm pretty sure I need a new alloy head for unleaded fuel. Is this correct? If this is the case are there pre-cross flow heads available or would I have to change it to a cross flow head? Do I have any other options then replacing the head if I can't keep the motor pre-cross flow? Any advice is welcome Cheers Tom.

My first classic car. A 1964 ford falcon deluxe with the original 170 pursuit motor. A little rust but complete chrome trim and straight body. I can't seem to upload the picture as it is to big and can't reduce the size to 500K without effecting quality of pic. So here is the link http://rs1166.pbsrc.com/albums/q606/brissytom/Mobile%20Uploads/20151027_210706-1_zpshxyuelun.jpg?w=480&h=480&fit=clip http://rs1166.pbsrc.com/albums/q606/brissytom/Mobile%20Uploads/Screenshot_2015-10-25-19-18-36_zpsv5wrfaqf.png?w=480&h=480&fit=clip http://rs1166.pbsrc.com/albums/q606/brissytom/Mobile%20Uploads/Screenshot_2015-10-25-19-18-51_zps6n7khkvr.png?w=480&h=480&fit=clip http://rs1166.pbsrc.com/albums/q606/brissytom/Mobile%20Uploads/Screenshot_2015-10-25-19-18-18_zps8x2dcfhq.png?w=480&h=480&fit=clip

    Tips on chrome trim removal.

G'day, I'm looking for some advice for removing the exterior chrome trim on a '64 xm falcon. Does anyone have some experience with this or know if the trim along the doors and body were held in place with clips or possibly glued on? I'm looking at stripping the car down so i can get it resprayed and don't want to damage the trim. Any info would be appreciated Tom

Thanks for the warm welcome fellas. I've checked out rare spares for some parts and looks like they have a pretty good variety of parts. Cheers

G'day folks, I just wanted to say hello to everyone. I just became a proud owner of a 1964 XM ford falcon deluxe with original 170 pursuit engine. It needs a full restore and only has a small amount of rust in the sills and bottom of the doors. I'm hoping to be able to get some advice and tips on the restore process. Cheers Tom
